I realize this thread has migrated to th newer trucks, but i haveyet another method for my 08 Xrunner. I unplugged the TPMS module, and at its connector I jumpered the power supply wire (light green) to the blue wire. Power is disconnected (sort of), no cutting, no splicing.

ok, just read this entire thread hoping that someone had '09 and likes to run low tire pressure while out in the mud and snow for better traction. It would be nice to be able to press the reset button and have the truck accept my low pressure as well as monitoring the new level. At low pressure in snow or mud you can loose a bead and not know right way. (everything feals squishy anyway and you are just crawling) Anyway, the one and only time I would use TPMS would be for playing in the mountains. Anyone got a lead on actually reprogramming this system to be useful? Hey, maybe we can program it to accept a 0 reading from missing sensors?

Since there is some confusion as to whether the blue wire needs ground, +12V, or +5V, and the module can be in any of several locations, all depending on MY, I opted for the simplest method - I removed the instrument cluster and affixed a cut-to-size piece of gaffer's tape (black cloth, strong adhesive) to the back of the white plastic light mask (on the PCB side). Piece of cake; 100% effective, and reversible. Only thing to be careful of is noting the original positions of the indicator pointers with power off. Getting them perfectly aligned again took a few tries, but patience prevailed!

Thanks to everyone who posted... it gave me the info (and confidence) I needed to do this.

I just opened up my 2009 and these two junction plugs have completely different wiring than the ones pictured here. Am I missing something?

I realize this is the second gen thread, but was wondering if anyone has figured out how to do this on the 3rd gen trucks.

I'm not sure what you're saying: "but I ran power to the blue wire v's grounding it". Did you have to do something different from the OP?

Yes, I did not ground the blue wire behind the glove box but instead I did what the gentleman done in post 13. It worked for me.

For anyone doing this on a 2015, you have to jump the blue wire to a 12v source. Finally after several years no more light!

    Hi,
I have a 2006 Tacoma Prerunner and I want to disable the TPMS due to flashing light. I have located the DA connector but not sure if I have located the IJ1 connector. The one I found (taped to the main harness behind the glove box) is a 10 pin connector with 7 wires. 4 in one row (White, purple,Green/white, Blue) and 3 in the other (Green, pinkish,Red/white) .
Can anyone tell me if this is the right connector and do I cut the blue wire and if so which side of the wire do I ground....or do I splice into the wire and ground the splice?
I tried to post a picture, but haven't figured out how to do that yet.

Did this mod on my 2006 TRD OR Taco a few months ago and it worked great.

However, a month later when I checked my rear diff lock nothing happened, even the light wouldn't flash. I assume that it must be coincidence but would like someone more knowledgeable to chime in

Do you need to disconnect and reset the battery or drive around and reset the TPMS for this to work? I'm doing this to my 08 Reg Cab and have tried putting the blue wire to ground and also tried doing it to power but the light stays on. I imagine the light should immediately turn off?

So that's all that is needed to kill the tpms light '15? Jump blue wire to a 5v source?
