Columbus area peeps, I hit 60k+ on my 2013. (2.7l 5 lug) and need to get the transmission, diff, and spark plugs taken care of, anyone got any recommended people to use? Not sure I want to pay dealer pricing on this, but not sure Valvoline is the right place either (well, they don't do plugs anyways).

considering the cost of supplies and cold weather, it may not be a bad option. I had front/rear diffs, transmission and radiator FLUSH (not drain/refill) done for $500 at Tansky Toyota

Got a garage? Sounds like a 6-pack job.

Transmission: (I have an obdII scanner that can read the two trans temps so no jumper bs is needed). remove fill plug, loosen overflow plug, remove drain plug. Reverse order and fill.

    rear diff is easy peasy.

I can't image the plugs are hard.

Thanks for responding. Please let me know what day you were thinking. That Sunday I have an appointment to head up to Cleveland and watch the Browns lose another game.

That looks like a ton of fun. As long as that resort has a bunny hill, I am interested.

Heard good about Dozzers Garage: http://www.dozzersgarage.com/

Also North End Wrench on Indianola, though they are more apt for old Porsches and stuff. Also over there is Cheeseman's. Everyone loves them. (Clintonville friends.) If you are talking full trans flush (If an auto) then I might leave that for the dealer. On the other hand if its a stick and easily DIY-able we could probably knock it out in no time at one of our houses.

That's not as bad as I thought it would be....

I got most of the tools I think, but only a small garage (keep the wife's car in it usually) as we live in an apartment complex.

Yeah it's automatic, I thought it was supposed to be a flush at 60k (I'm actually at 66k now, been busy!)

I thought the transmission service was just a drain/fill. For some reason I thought this was a 30k service. Do the dealerships even do a full fluid replacement?

These really are simple jobs. Perhaps if you can get the materials we can do this weekend at my place? I think the wife would be ok. Im getting close to the 30k mark so these are on my to do list soon anyway (other than the plugs).

Usually the AT is more complicated. On the FJ you can drain and refill, BUT it will just be 4 out of the 12+ qts. in it and even still you have to jump the OBDII plug and get it to just the right temperature to open the check valve and set the fluid level. Meanwhile on a MT is dump, refill, drive lol

Thats pretty fair considering all the different fluids I guess. Thats like $250 worth of fluids retail.

Yeah, same here. I do the same procedure on the wife's Pilot every other oil change.

I have an OBDII bluetooth adapter and the Torque app. So reading the tacoma trans temps is easy. I would bet it would work on the FJ as well. no jumpers!

Im glad they checked your floor mats. Always cracked me up whenever I had service done at the dealer. I always thought they were trolling me.
