ok guys a little help here. ok I have a 2016 Tacoma SR5 my off roading mainly consist of beach driving.. Now with that said I have never had anything other than stock trucks too poor to do anything to them before. I mainly just like the looks of a more aggressive stance and bigger tires. my question is am I better off with a small lift or a leveling kit. im thinking 32 in tires maybe 35 what is everyones thoughts.

You won't 35s without heavy modifcation.

32s will fit stock, and a lift kit is better than a "leveling kit (spacer/block)," though your needs don't seem to require much performance.

If your needs are performance driven and you want to gain more ground clearance, then a lift kit is what you're after. If you just want looks and bigger tires, then a spacer kit fits your needs.

How about just go bigger tires and leave suspension alone? Seen a few on here that went with the 265/70R17 and made a big difference in way truck looked .. and they said zero rubbing on stock suspension

I agree its all what you want and what you have the money for. Lift kit is super useful or just get bigger tires and spaces if you think thatll be enough for you.

Keep in mind that your MPG will take a hit if you go with bigger tires.

If you want to lift it for better performance, then bigger tires are needed to get the benefit of the lifted suspension.

Keep in mind, a suspension lift provides NO increase in ground clearance. A suspension lift allows for bigger tires which is what will put more clearance between the ground and the bottom of your differential. A suspension lift CAN provide increased suspension travel and flexibility.

If you just want bigger tires for looks, decide if you want to absorb the increased fuel consumption and then get the leveling kit.

JMHO, but stock size tires look fine on a Tacoma and give good to great MPG.

I would put my tire money into a nice set of rims.

What part of the suspension lift places more clearance between the differential and the ground?

A suspension lift may raise the frame, but it does NOT lift the differential, which is still going to be in the same location it was in before the lift if you don't install bigger tires.

Going to 265/70R17 on 9" wheels with low offset made mine look completely different. I get compliments on it fairly regularly now. Clears even with the suspension flexed enough to lift a tire. image.jpg

While a suspension lift won't increase the clearance for the rear axle it will improve the front clearance and improve the angle of approach.

The only thing it does not raise is the rear diff. The front is raised and the rear diff is the last of your worries. Straddle the rock and the rear diff is not an issue. Basic off roading skills.

This is true with IFS suspensions.

I have installed probably a dozen lift kits, but all on solid axles.

Forgot to take into account the IFS portion.

Even with IFS though, the main point of a lift is to be able to run bigger tires.

if you're too 'poor' for a lift usually...don't put 35s lol.
you'll be even more poor from your MPG shitting the bed and the mods you'd need to fit 35s.

like @DCSBFTMFW said, 32s will fit stock. might rub a little though. small lift and you'll be fine.
