Searched the forums and didn't see this posted for the 3rd Gen or for a HomeLink Mirror so I thought I'd share.

Red wire connects to the Tan wire for the 12v
Black connects to the Black/White for the Ground

    BlendMount #BV1-2002
    MirrorTap MT-2009

(*these parts were re-used from my previous car and they just happened to fit)

Are these even useful anymore, given all the blind spot monitors on cars in the road giving false alarms, and laser being so fast that by the time it's going off they already have your speed?

If used as a tool yes. Laser has to be stopped and they can't shoot through glass. Using one w/ gps built in that self learns false alarms (door openers etc...) and blocks 'em out is nice and in "pro" mode you can monitor the bands and see that your X and K bands can pretty much be ignored but KA you better slow down. Instant on will get you if you're out front but usually there's enough traffic ahead of you that you'll pick 'em up.

Wouldn't be without my Redline. More than paid for itself twice over, in the 3 years I've utilized its excellent detection here on the BC highways. Went with the Rogue mount and Tap. Usually turned off around town. But she is a must and really shines when heading out of town upcountry.

Nice. I'm tempted to get this but the V1 spends most of its time in the other car. Suppose I could still take if off pretty quick tho

Won't work for me for two reasons, 1, I don't have a powered mirror, and 2, my 2.7L on 35's can only speed going down hill with a tail wind :pout:

Nice write up, and thanks for sharing, this is the stuff that makes the 3rd gen section great. You searched, didn't find the answer, did your own research, made it work, and then shared

Its getting bad, Im almost broke.
Blend mount is the only way to roll. Its a clean install, turns on and off when you start your vehicle.

Are you able to remove the detector from the mount easily? I live in Va. where it is illegal to use one... but I drive a lot out of state... and use my escort when I do.

I looked at this mount when I was setting mine up. Nice product, but stupid expensive.

I ended up with an identical solution using RAM parts. And a bit more flexibility in positioning, too.

    1. http://www.gpscity.ca/ram-mount-diamond-plate-with-1-inch-ball-ram-b-238u - Diamond plate's holes line up just about perfectly with the OEM suction-cup bracket that comes with the detector. Pop the suction cups out, use any hardware on hand to attach diamond plate.
    2. http://www.gpscity.ca/ram-mount-medium-arm-b-socket-ram-b-201u - an arm.
    3. http://www.gpscity.ca/ram-mount-zinc-u-bolt-motorcycle-mount-base-ram-b-231zu - u bolt base.

This might work as an alternative to #3, but I haven't tried it - http://www.gpscity.ca/ram-mount-plastic-rail-mount-base-with-1-inch-ball.

$40 CAD which should be roughly $0.50 USD. Bonus is you can reuse the RAM parts in future projects (I've been reusing the parts I bought some 6-7 years ago ever since).
