I own a 2016 tacoma trd sport dcsb 6speed manual, i got it on jun 2016.
Today I took my truck to get check for grinding noise from the rear end, and they confirmed my truck needs a new rear differential.... but this is the 3rd rear diff in less than 3 months. 1st one was replace on aug due a howling noise (3400 miles), 2nd one was replaced because the seal was leaking (5950 miles) now at 8200 miles is getting replace for howling/grinding noise. Also windshield was replaced because was leaking....my truck been in the shop for over 43 days combined. Im NY state and i feel i bought a lemon. I will keep the post updated and see what happens

    Thanks :annoyed:

It looks like you may have a legal recourse.

    NY Lemon Law fact sheet

    http://www.ag.ny.gov/consumer-frauds/new-car-lemon-law-fact-sheet

    NY Lemon Law details

    http://www.ag.ny.gov/sites/default/files/pdfs/publications/New_Car_Lemon_Law_2011.pdf
From the linked document, emphasis mine...

Except for motor homes, it is presumed that there has been a reasonable number of attempts to
repair a problem if, during the first 18,000 miles of operation or two years from the original delivery date,
    whichever comes first, either
    (a) the manufacturer (or its authorized dealer) has had an opportunity to repair the same problem four
    or more times and the problem continued to exist at the end of the fourth repair attempt;
    or
    (b) the car was out of service by reason of repair for a cumulative total of 30 or more calendar days for one or more problems.

Replacing the differential every 2000-3000 miles is a characteristic of the vehicle!

Being a lemon is a characteristic of 3rd gen tacomas.

I'd probably start looking for a lawyer and start taking the necessary steps.

Sounds like time to get a new truck. Careful, the fanboys will be in here soon saying you are upset over nothing and they haven't had any problems.

Well the 3rd gen's chief engineer is a former Chrysler engineer. Hydra (Chrysler) infiltrated Shield (Toyota).

If it's a lemon ... and you can prove your situation to Toyota ... make them take it back ... pure & simple ... good luck.

Grow a pair and tell Toyota you want a new truck. Yours qualifies as a lemon in every state.

Well, take the freaking cash then. But it's time to dump the current truck in Toyota Corps lap. Maybe if they get enough of them, they'll fix root cause.
