So my question is this. I am getting a 6" kit and it will be installed by the end of the week. I don't do any off roading. So spending $1500 on proper coil overs seems like a waist. But I am not in love with the huge spacer that will go on top of the factory strut. Is there a longer strut/coilover that is less then 1000 bucks that you could place a 3" spacer on to give the kit a longer travel with out emptying the wallet? I already have a 3" leveling kit on the truck and it rubs the body mount with the tires I am running.

what 6 inch lift kit are you getting? and why are you getting a lift kit if you dont plan on doing any off roading?

6" lifts are usually for aesthetics rather than off-roading. 3" lifts are more often what guys who off-road a lot will be installing. I think it's the counterpart to lowering a car and putting on some wheels with a good amount of offset for a visually appealing (to some) stance.

Yea its just visual appeal. I love my tacoma but its my main ride and I'm not going to tear it up playing off road. There are no real trails even close to me that most of you guys get to play on. I am getting the Rough Country 6" cause its $960 and will clear my 295's with out rubbing the body mounts. If they didn't rub I would leave the 3" thats on it. If I did any off road riding it would be the BDS of Fabtec instead. So with a 6" kit , stacking a 3" strut/coilover with a 3" leveling spacer should be ok correct?

From what I have hear about rough country's 6 inch kit is that it rides really rough....hints the name rough country. i haven't had one of their lifts however every person i have talked to and also an employee at 4 wheel parts, its not a good built lift kit. however, they do produce them so as long as you are comfortable with that then its on you. For the money i can't see why it would be a problem.

Ha / Panhandle of FL . Most of whats here is mud bogging. Boggs and Bolders is about a 2 hour drive from here. Buddy of mine did the RC on a single cab silverado and loved it for the money. Said it road good and he was totally happy with it. I am still on the fence. I thought about the Zone 6" kit but when you look at ALL the kits available. There is very little difference. I know there are some built better and would be the preferred lift but spending 3k on a lift and not doing any trail riding seems a bit over the top.

can't help you there, but I would guess you could benefit from a 6" lift if you went mudding.

I may be wrong, but I would guess with a 6" lift you may need to do other mods to the drive train. Someone here would know more about that than me.

OP do you brother. I've seen some good looking trucks with 6" lifts - it's not what I'm doing on my truck, but that's alright because it's my truck and your's is your's. Bet it's going to look great. Just ask your insurance about whether they'll cover your suspension items - I got my my insurance to cover 3k in suspension mods - unfortunately that won't even cover the cost of the front suspension kit I'm waiting to be fabbed...

That would help you to stuff the 295's when turning / flexing with only a 3" lift.
