Heya, folks! Those are some great looking pictures from your recent runs! My wife and I are coming up to visit our (my) in-laws next year and may be looking to do some wheeling. Here in SC we hit some trails pretty hard in my PreRunner with no locker, but I know my limits. I've been doing a bunch of searching on trails to run around Traverse City, but I'm not finding a lot except dunes. Most likely by the time we are up there next, I will have traded up to a truck that is TRD OR 4x4, but in case it's not, do ya'll have any recommended trails for general off road where I wouldn't have to worry about rescue since I would be there with self-rescue ability?

    Thanks a ton!

Definately need to take some days off. But with those days I'll have to get work done around the house. Maybe someday I'll make a trip. Looks like fun!

90% of the trails are packed enough for 2 wheel drive but a patch of sand or sandy hill can bring the fun to a grinding halt in a jiffy especially in the Traverse area. Look south of Cadillac in the Baldwin area little Manistee and Big O trails are more flat but still fun.
Sandy turf runs throughout Michigan, let me know when you ere ready. With a little notice I'm likely to join in and I have a recovery winch.
There are many miles of dirt roads through the forest (not trails but close enough) throughout the northern half of the lower peninsula so if you are cautious there will be plenty of off pavement time to be had.

Looks like you guys had a ton of fun. I'm usually in the mio/rose city area woods riding my dirt bike or at silver lake. I'm interested in wheeling with you guys once I'm back in a taco this winter/next spring. Did you air down much, if at all?

I ran 32 psi. That's what I keep it at on the road.

I try to give some advance notice and almost always welcome to have company. We did not air down as most of the trails are hard packed we did go across some sugar sand but not that much

I wasn't there this weekend, but I usually go down to 20lbs if I can afford to. Usually running with a nitrogen tank so airing up isn't a concern and the extra squish in the sidewall goes a LONG way for smoothing out the ride.

No doubt airing down softens the ride and provides MUCH better traction in sand and mud. Back in Florida when I had an 86 lifted 7 inches on 38.5's I would carry a dive tank that had an air hose with a T and could fill two tires at the same time along with a PERFECT balance in pressure.
I ran 12 to 15 without bead locks or any problems and I swear it doubles the trucks capabilities in the swamp.
The dive tank would fill the 4 big doughnuts twice and in pretty quick fashion.

I don't know if you guys should hit Bundy Hill unless you're planning on some carnage. There's a few tight and rocky trails, big hills, mud... it's not really what I'd call a good time in a Tacoma...

I probably won't be going. My truck is going to see less and less offroading as I build up my JK to handle the trails

I am at Silver Lake alot during the summer.

Bundy definitely isn't a great place for a nice truck unless your with someone that knows the trails. I go a couple times a year and still get in trouble because I'm not sure where I'm at. It is a neat place though.

I've taken my '16 out to Bundy a few times w/ some buddies who knew the place.
And I would agree on maybe not the best for newer/nicer Tacos, there's some technical stuff (trails, rocks, etc.) that can get a little squirrly/scratchy

Rocks & Valleys by Harrison is a pretty decent park. Not as big though. Ron tried having a Toyota Day a couple times in past years but there were usually the same 4-5 of us. He may try again in the future.

Rocks and valleys sounds fun, have buddies that take beaters there quite often. Don't want to beat the hell out of mine tho.
