So this is a post on my installation of the relentless fabrication bed bars for a first gen. I have a DC so the bed is about 5 feet. Got three. I am 21, young and I know there are many things I could do better or different, I am learning as I go, so take it easy on me
:crapstorm: :D of course, constructive criticism is always welcome, like I said, learning as I go. :curls:

Got 3... yes- light tab option/no- on the high-lift mount/finish- powder coat matte black

And guys I have to say, @RelentlessFab this is some high quality work. Even the packaging shows that they care about what they ship. Love the effort put into it. Will be using them again.

Will be posting as I get things done.

Glad to see the bars packaging let them arrive without damage even though the shipping companies can be less than gentle with our large and heavy packages! Get those babies mounted up and let us know what you think of them on the truck! :) We love happy repeat customers!

2gen and 3gen tacomas are lucky. They have this

    truck-covers-usa-tacoma-tie-down-hooks.jpg

Which makes installing the bed bars on the truck easy peasy lemon squeezey, but us 1st gen guys don't get that, we have to use a little ingenuity.

Lucky for us, our Tacomas do have a metal lip running along the inside of the rails.

    IMG_0195.jpg

So drill the holes where they go and bolt it on right? noooopppeee...see my other problem is that I have a bed-liner, and although I could remove it and spray one in, I am on a budget, 21 remember? college, work, girlfriendddddd :help: and wasting money lol bottom line, I don't want to remove it and it be just naked. So I did the following

This was done this morning before work.

    Tools

    IMG_1896.jpg

    Procedure

1.) Measure two inches down (that is the approximate length of the lip)
2.) Isolate square with camo tape, warningggg it must be camo! if not use the United States of America flag tape why? cuz Merica!

    IMG_1898.jpg

3.) Then just use tool to cut.

    IMG_1901.jpg
    IMG_1903.jpg
    IMG_1906.jpg

(Also notice I cut a smaller square that has been highlighted, I did this because my bed-liner has bumps so in order for the bars to be flush, this also must be removed.)

The reason I cut the squares was so I could reach behind and tighten the bolts. which would be impossible if the bed-liner would be left on and untouched. I will find a way to clip the square plastic back on with a little more ingenuity so my truck doesn't have three square holes on each side. I'm thinking on what would be the best option. Lets see what I come up with.

Anyways, now they fit like a glove :D

    IMG_1908.jpg
    IMG_1909.jpg
    IMG_1910.jpg

I am ready to drill the holes :laser: and bolt on. Hoping to get that done after work, today.

Allllriiighhhttttt! So I was able to get the bars on yesterday afternoon! I placed the bars where they were going to go, marked the points and got to drilling.

First I used a smaller size drill bit for metal and made a small hole

Then I used a bigger drill bit and expanded it, also when I was through I rotated in a circle so it made a slightly bigger hole. That way the bolt would go through easier

And bammm!! they are not going anywhere! Put bolt in from the inside because it was easier to bolt on from the outside.

BTW that's me on the bars, I weigh 170 lbs and I was jumping on these things. I love how they look. Enjoy.

Also later in the afternoon I was able to put on a bed rack I had gotten earlier this month, from Amazon, to complete the look I wanted! It looks awesome.

@RelentlessFab I was that member, from the other thread, that had told you I would post pics with your bars on a first gen so you could put them up on your website if you wanted, Idk if you realized I was the same person. Anyhow, here ya go! Love the look. Love the quality, you guys are awesome!:bowdown:

or use the ones with the bars only, in the previous Reply, take your pick :D ^^^ Happy customer. Thank you again.

P.S your sticker did not go to waste

Looking good on the install. Nice looking rig as well. I'll be picking up my sliders next week. Hope to get them installed pretty soon. Eric's shop does great work.

Yeah man I thank you I did what I could, and thank you shes a work in progress thats awesome! hope everything goes good on the install.

For sure, what I love is the quality, I mean anyone can bend some tubes and just weld something together. But these shows quality. They are not going anywhere Ive shook the whole truck and bars dont budge what so ever. Looking to maybe buy the bumper, but Im on a budget

Very nice. I want one of their bars, but looks like an almost 3 month wait.
