Another thread about hypermiling and moderation of the gas pedal got me thinking about the performance of the Taco.

What's a REALISTIC 0-60 time and 1/4 mile time for a 2008 Access cab, Prerunner, automatic?

Not the Car and Driver, or Motor Trend times. They run cars over and over and get the absolute best times.

What's a realistic one effort, good launch time?

I'm not sure, but it sure is fun jumping on the gas & getting pushed back in the seat. And shocking a few people that come to the line at the redlight, reving their engine & inching forward, thinking they are going to blow you away. Then are suprised when they have to play catch-up.

I'm not promoting street racing, I only run up to 10 over speed limit.
This is for those people who are going to say something about this & how dangerous street racing is, blah blah blah.

Agreed. Haven't had the problem yet in the truck, but I managed to put some people to shame with a Dodge Caravan back in high school - nothing is more humbling than getting stomped by a grocery rig.

MSN autos used to list 1/4 mile times for all vehicles, which was fun to look at. They've since taken that down. :(

According to GPS and Gtech, about 7.1-7.2 seconds to 60.

either you edited or I'm going blind :) i didn't see you say "to 60"

That was just the first thing that came to mind, after a quick google we got a 1993 Toyota Supra Turbo at 13.1 quarter mile (C&D Mar '93).

I've only ever looked at 1/4 mile times, I can't 'picture' 0-60 times.

    EDIT: more googling, and

^My mistake, then. I did add in the 60 to clarify.

15.5 is unexpected. My Altima 3.5 SE ran low 15's so that's a hard one for me to believe. But, Phi Kai has been around the forums for a long time so I doubt he'd lie.

The fastest thing at my house right now is a '97 DeVille, and msn autos claimed it got 15.6. Sure, it's a boat, but trying to beat a 24 valve V8 designed to move that titanic with 4 fatties in it is still going to be hard to beat. It didn't sound like the guy was out to grow his e-peen though, so (insert heart smilies here) for our trucks!

If you read the thread, he was really beating on it as well - doing an rpm dump in 4wd and swapping to 2wd? I'd rather have the numbers for straight 2wd from a standstill at 0 RPM.
