No good, I called dyna trac Toyota uses a special tone ring that reads in forward and reverse. Like I said I've called everybody and found nobody with a solution for the electronics. Everybody always says they seen it done or they know somebody but I can find nobody that is actually done it or knows how to do it.

Cant you just ground the abs sensors so that the truck "thinks" its working?

Hmm that's the first I've heard about Toyotas special tone rings. Makes sensethough. I'd like to see more info though sounds interesting project.

Yes from the information I gathered the tone ring or some call it the exciter ring is built into the wheel bearing. it reads forward and has a different reading for reverse . it all has to do with crawl control and various other features like anti roll back. You can't just use any tone ring , ground the wire , or take input from the rear because the brake modulator will be applying brakes to the wrong wheels in a off-road or panic situation. I have been wanting to do this for a long time and did extensive research. Just disconnecting wires and putting electrical tape on the dash is not an option for me.

We all wish and I'm sure all pro off-road, Dyna trac, currie, everybody wishes it was just that simple. this is not a new problem the FJ cruiser came out in 2007 with this same technology. All FJ cruiser straight axles that you see do not have the electronics working correctly.
It's very easy to hang a straight axle, make it steer , and beat it up up off-road. Easy !
Try to make that straight axle work as a safe daily driver and and pass emissions, ( cannot pass smog with any check lights on ) Not easy !

The idea of signal generator has been researched but fundamentally we still need a signal from the left and right front wheels. At this point the only solution that I could see would be using the standard tone ring currently available and converting that signal to a square wave signal that the Toyota computer would except and read but I don't believe there is enough demand to warrant an investment like this so for now I think it is what it is. However as technology advances and so does the aftermarket I still have hope that maybe we'll get something in the future.

Hey Guys, Maybe this will help you out. Speedo fix for rear axle conversions. Also, Currie now carries an axle that can bolt right into your Taco that has the speed sensors for the rear. I'm working on one for the front but quite honestly don't like ABS while wheeling. Hate it infact so it's not a priority for me to do it.

The new Taco's are very similar, seen it already ;) so when I do one it shouldn't be that bad. Wont be using ANY of the electronics crap they put on these anyway.

if you can seriously figure out the front, I can easily work a deal to make some coin for you , I have connections at all those places. P.M me if you're serious. Also I'd be happy to test it for you.

It's already figured out. I did it years ago. I just don't have the time nor do I want to spend the money on it. Not a big enough market for it.

It's already figure out how? , The Toyota tone ring and reads in two different directions and has a square wave.
Every single FJ cruiser , every single straight axle that all pro, dyna track or Currie Has done does not have working electronics.
Seriously if you figured it out and can prove it , I will pay you just for your knowledge and I'll take care of everything else . I'll just give you a big fat check for this information and it will become mine and proprietary and we will sign a simple contract done.

Do you have the link to the rear bolt on axles for the 2005 and up Taco's that come from Currie? I was not able to find it on the website. Thank you!

I called currie , they had no idea about a new Tacoma Rear axle (of course they can build a generic axle for it) or any electronics that would work for the front. They had a special toyota 60 for the rear of the FJcruiser but it's basically discontinued because they could never figure out the matching front electronics.

Yeah, it is a bummer. To get the ACLB V6 Manual you have to get the Sport, which doesn't appeal to me. I dunno, this long time Toyota owner has lost interest. Same money gets you a F150 with V8...no manny, but oh well.
