I use doritos also to start my charcoal chimney.. Yes doritos chips!!A tw member brought it up last time, I was a skeptic so I tried it. And I've been using it ever since..I use about 7 chips or so

Not my video but you get the idea. Obviously doritos will go on the bottom and charcoal on top

Seems it was @drwx that brought up the Dorito trick here. I knew they would burn well, I had been told by a forensic scientist that Doritos had been suspected in some arson cases. Fritos work well also.

I used doritos a few times after seeing it on here, but then Lowe's had the little weber starter cubes on sale so I bought a couple boxes of those. Just need to use one and it works like a champ, especially if you don't have any junk food to ignite lol

Fritos works great too, and not such a waste of Doritos (I love nacho cheese)

Ive tried all those other methods of lighting my chimney but the best i have tried so far is using a paper egg carton broken up, lights fast and burns for a long time and gets the coals ready fast. I allways have a few kicking around.

This, I don't light on my cook grate because of the ash. Plus I only use two sheets of news paper, rolled loosely, then coiled into a "cinnamon bun" shape. Works perfectly.

The only thing is, for me this is only for the grill, not my smoker. So I have no fire to start with.

Ya when it comes to the smoker I just make sure the hopper is full and the cord is plugged in, then the magic of pellet poopin takes over the rest :)

Oh I have metal (whole smoker is made of it) there is fire, the pellets go into a metal pot where they are brought to a temperature that makes them ignite which causes the fire and then the metal auger makes more wood go into the fire. Meat well ya that's what this is all about. I'm not gonna smoke no tofu brisket or anything like that lol

I've used paper, just a few peices, until I realized I could just put it on the side burner. No ash to mess with afterward.
