Oh God, I've still a coat to do on the trim on one side of the shop. Then I have to start on the house.

    Ugghh..

Got the walls painted this week, got some touch up to do on the ceiling and door frames.
I'm really happy with how crisp the center line turned out.
We got some paint on the baseboards but we're probably gonna replace them because they're old and have drips from the previous painter.

Thanks, Sunday I'll be painting the line on the walls, can't wait to see how it's gonna turn out with a blue line on the grey and grey line on blue.

Sort of home improvement related...when I'm done it'll be an improvement.

This old oil lamp has been in my family for as long as I can remember. The glass chimney and shade have always been missing. I checked with my father and the lamp was my mother's grandparents, so I'm guessing around 100 years old.

Anyway, it's always been sitting on a dresser in a spare room. I recently decided to fix it up & restore to working order. This week, I located a small family run antique lamp repair shop. They didn't have the parts I needed, but they did replace the wick for free and told me how to safely restore the finish (light rubbing with 0000 steel wool and 3:1 oil).

Today I did that and it cleaned up nice.

I was hoping to find an original chimney & shade, but after researching, it would be very, very expensive. A search on eBay found some nice pieces. I did find a 12" tall clear chimney and a 10" avocado greenish shade.

Can't wait for those to arrive so it gets to live a new life.

Putting in some insulation on the back wall. That's where some shelves and a workbench will go, so getting that done first.

I worked for a plaster / stucco guy as a laborer during college sometimes. He'd call me for set up and take down and hauling the 5 gallon pails up there. It was hard work. The planks were 2x10ish solid wood, some were at least 16 feet long. I remember when he'd have an outdoor winter job too. Set it up, plastic it all off, and heat it with salamanders.

Yeah once you get set up it can be a pretty comfy place to work but putting the scaffold up and down is the worst part , toughest part for me on this was the hook ladders

    Alright folks:

Re-doing my first floor bathroom. Was garbage and been living with it for 3 years. Everything is torn down to studs and I am working on the floor. Looks like 1/2" plywood nailed to the subfloor which is 1/2" as well. Removed the first layer of plywood and looking at the sub-sub floor. It is shitty and has a couple bows in place. I am debating on whether to set my skill saw to a shallow depth, cut it out, and just replace it all with 3/4" T&G plywood, or if I can just lay new 1/2" plywood over the old stuff.

I am going to tile so there will be hardi-backer going on top of everything. I think for a good elevation into the hallway, the 3/4" all the way around would be good with the 1/4" hardibacker, but I am not opposed to a lip transition if I go with new 1/2" plywood on top of the old stuff.

Any advice? I am game for either, but putting new 1/2" plywood on top of the old stuff would make life easier. Not that is it better, just easier.

    Thanks
