    Looking to do a 4wd conversion into my truck, has anyone done this would have any tips? I want to do it myself to save some big $$$$$. I'm thinking about just buying a part out Tacoma with 4wd and putting it into mine. Suggestions?

    It's gonna cost about 1k. This is VERY easy to do on a 1st gen
    4wd tranny
    J shift t case
    Spindles/cv axles with manual hubs
    Front diff manual
    Front/rear d shaft

    i just did my 2000 pre reunner. i had a complete 99 4wd. everything bolted up no problem. just swapped transmission transfer case installed front carrier assembly and axles. i switched over the knuckles and drive shafts. and is running

    Highly recommend doing it yourself. I just finished mine kinda and I've learned an insane amount of things about how my truck works. My prior wrenching experience was installing a suspension lift, so going from that to doing this conversion I learned a ton.
    It should in theory be a pretty easy conversion, but it took me pretty long just because I didn't really know what I was doing. It cost me about $950 for parts but ended up having to fork out a good chunk of money because I couldn't figure out something extremely stupid once again due to lack of experience. (you can read about it on my conversion post if you like).
