Seriously looking at picking one of these up for my Tacoma, but I'm wondering how people are securing their gear to the rack? I plan on a couple cases, maxxtrax, and possibly chucking my recovery gear up there in a pelican case.

These racks are so universal with mounting capabilities. You're only limited by your own creativity. I have my hi lift, tredz, and soon to be pelican case up top.

both slide into the tracks and give you options to mount just about anything you want.

Good point. To piggy bag off of that, I think the sheer amount of variety in hardware gives you limitless options. I'm sure a man can walk down the hardware isle and come up with several ideas to utilize this rack.

Got mine up this weekend. Definitely a 2 person Job to get them up there, good thing I have a handy and helpful neighbor.
highly recommend a Flex-Head Ratcheting Box End Wrench to do the install when the racks are up there.
Love how it came out, even installed my Thule 575 snowboard rack up there in the back.
Spoke to Zack and he now offers a 1x1 bar for the newer models, because Toyota moved or resized the XM antenna, recommend getting one when you first order, if you have a newer model.

As someone who has had two bars wired on the same switch, I recommend wiring them independently. This way you can control how much or how little light is being thrown in a certain situation.

Do people tend to mount the camper shell rack straight to the shell? Do I need to invest in some sort of rail for it instead?

    Quick Amazon search:

Thule TB60 Top Track Roof Mount Rack Mounting System (60-Inches) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000CQ20AK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_WUkeybEDVBPT0

They might be cheaper elsewhere or on your local Craigslist.

Simply weight distribution; think of the rails as a washer that will prevent the rack from causing premature wear and cracking of the fiberglass on the shell.

Awesome, thank you for the information!

Another question, has anybody used Cali Raised LED bars instead of the Heretic light bars on the Prinsu?

Check out TRS, they have low profile bars that look better IMO. Plus a 10 year warranty. I think for a 40" it's $250 or so
