I'm considering ordering a pelfreybilt ifs skid for my 2nd gen 4x4 with the 2.7l 4cyl., while they still have the free shipping deal going on. I don't want to have to remove it everytime I change my oil. Is anybody out there using this skid on their 4-banger taco that can confirm whether the drain plug lines up with the hole in the skid, and if you can still reach the oil filter? Pelfreybilt said they've sold several to 4banger guys without complaint, but couldn't confirm whether they had to remove it to change oil. Thanks

Sorry I don't know your answer. Surprised the vendor doesn't know.

However, if there is a blockage, you could cut a hole to allow access?

so i had one on my 2010 4cyl. And yes you will have to remove it every time you change the oil. The drain hole i believe lines up (if i remember correctly). The issue you are going to run into is the oil filter. Cant really get to it without taking off the plate, and even if you could theres no easy drain hole location for it so its going to make a mess..

I never really complained to Pelfreybilt about it, since I thought that most ppl are putting this on the V6 and no one will make a 4cyl unique plate with an oil filter access hole. It honestly didnt bother me to much, just added the 10 mins it took me to get the plate on and off, even more reason to go with the Aluminum one... You will have to be careful with the bolts that you dont round them over or something since you'll be taking them off a lot. One of the reason i ran full synthetic and spaced out my oil changes to 6500 miles or so.

    Hope this helps

Ive got a 2TR-FE and a Pelfrey skid, no i do not need to remove the skid plate. There is a hole in the skid that lines up perfectly with the oil drain.

And you can reach around the skid plate to access the filter?

I took the plate off just to make it easier to access the filter and not worry about oil going all over, but if you can access around it then guess it works
