2nd diagram still shows pink going to #30. Just using a different relay.
(It really doesn't matter if 30 and 87 are backwards. It's just making a closed circuit)
    87A is not used.

    So far, so good.

-tried the original method again tapping off the starter(except this time with a diode)
Still threw check engine light. FAIL

-pulled the center console off and tapped off the "N" Nuetral light. That was hit and miss. (Had to engage the shifter slowly to activate it.. shift too fast and it would not recognize) FAIL

-the current method using TR7 and relay has worked 100% so far. No codes

I dont feel the need for ECT unless I am towing. Truck has plenty of pep and shifts great since the TSB was performed.

Awesome work. Going to try this on Sunday with a SPST instead of your SPDT since you're not using the center port anyway. I have an extra SPST laying around. The truck drives so much better with ECT on. I live in a very hilly area and the constant gear hunting w/o ECT pisses me off. A V6 should be driving like a V6, not like a V8 which they currently have it programmed to. There is no torque at 1000 RPM...

    MORE INFO:::
Big thanks to @Nitori for the schematics!!!
So it looks as if the Pink wire (pin 4) needs to be make contact with pin 1. Different then what I did..but mine still workso_O(pin 4-->pin 2)
I might switch it to pin 1 and test just to sleep better at night:rofl:

    mesojdm,
First off, thank you for taking the time and figuring this out for us!

Of the SPDT relays I found online, the diagram shows the Ground connecting to Pin 85, but you have it going to Pin 86. Just wanted to double check that the ground still goes to Pin 86 per your diagram. Excuse my ignorance on this stuff.

Also, how did you figure Pin 2 on ECT would work? Just curious. Let us know how Pin 1 works out!

^I originally tested with the button in my hand and a mulitmeter set to continuity. Pin 2 and 4 connected whenever It was pressed.
So far, it has been trial and error.

I just swapped over to pin 1 (white/black) after getting the OEM wiring schematics. ECT activates just like before. I am going to leave it this way. VERSION 3.0! :D also updated the first post for anyone wanting to try it.\
**I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT YOU DO**!

Pin 85 and 86 does not matter which is power or ground. It can be backwards and the relay doesn't care. It's just the coil activation input.

I am finally happy. This simple mod has had me scratching my head/.

    Thanks mesojdm!

One more question, so you were able to just pull off the Start Button/AC Surround Bezel (without the removal of other pieces first), then pop off the lower plastic with the ECT Button?

Read another post someplace that they pulled the head unit first before getting to the buttons.

NO need to pull the ECT plastic surround. I found that this is the easiest way to gain access:
    No tools, everything pops off.

once those 2 pieces are off, there is a a huge hole you can reach in and unplug the ECT harness.

More questions, is diode still preferred? If so, which wire connection is this for?

I take it that the Pac TR7 Module needs to be programmed to the 2 second delay that you have?

PAC does NOT need to be programmed. Out of the box it is default (alpine video bypass) but works perfect for this mod.
    No diodes needed.

All this work and hacking up a harness just so you don't have to press another button when you start the truck??

Good lord I press a button to start the truck, press the button below it for ECT, done.

No traction control lights, no check engine light, warranty maintained, no cobbling shit in the dash, no trial and error hooking things to fool my truck to eliminate pushing a damn button.

Different strokes I guess. I find myself forgetting to press it most of the time. Now It's automatic, you know... american's are lazy.:)

FIY there is no "hacking". I actually connected to a total of 4 wires to the truck. 2 on the ECT connector, and 2 for power/ground. It is completely reversible. Running aftermarket light bars/ switches/ etc requires more wiring(connected to the vehicle) than this.

As for CEL and throwing codes, this was a learning process.. trial and error. It's not like there is a manual somewhere for this. I'll be happy to be the beta tester.

Finally, "maintaining the warranty" is definitely a valid point. But just like any aftermarket part/s.. this will come down to how the individual dealership handles it and if the part is directly related to the problem.

My final version of this mod should(famous last words ha!) not have any issues integrating into the vehicle. All it is doing is connecting the ECT switch every time the truck starts. It's just like if you were to manually press it every time.

Nice work, OP. I've been expecting this post since these trucks were released. In fact, I recall someone posting an "IB someone asks about ECT always on mod..."

That said, I don't hit the button every time myself, and this is WAY too much work for me. I'd likely use it if it were a factory setting, but I won't wire for it.

But I'll agree with you and several others here that use it - it hasn't dropped my MPG. If anything, I'd argue it helps things for me since I use it in the foothills here in CO and it helps prevent "hunting" for gears.
