Question.... Would anyone be interested in a portable unit? And if so, If i purchased some cases and built the kit into a case with a 12v cigarette light plug, would you pay the difference for it for the additional parts?

 

This is so rad. I need to order one after the holidays.

 

I thoroughly tested my kit out while camping last weekend. It was awesome to have pressurized water! QOL (quality of life) index has definitely increased. Made cleaning up a breeze, so I went ahead and washed all of my gear since it was convenient. Even drenched the coals from the campfire without having to haul a water jug around.

When I first hooked it all up in the garage it seemed a bit loud since the pump resonates within the storage bin and bedside, but using it outside it's not bad at all. I still might put some sound mat around the storage bin but it's not really necessary unless you're trying to use the thing next to people sleeping or something.

 

So, you would use this and feed into it with the yellow tube then feed out with the included one?

 

Correct

 

Connect the yellow hose or whatever hose is the output from the pump you are using to the camp chef hot water heater. Pretty simple.

You can use that just fine. the pump supplies 1.2 gallons per minute at 35 psi which is within specifications for that heater. you can install the water kit as is, then choose the bring or leave the heater based on needs for each trip. you would just take the garden spray nozel off and connect the yellow line directly to the input of that heater, plug in your propane tank and the heater has its own output hose to use.

The fiancee and I are moving to Colorado and will be spending a few weeks camping throughout Utah in March on the way there. This setup might be just the thing we're looking for to have a hot shower without spending money on a hotel room.

 

You'll be the first to try the water heater with this kit, but if you watch youtube videos about the heater, most people use identical spec pumps and no issues.

Interested to see if anyone does this. I'm curious about the pressure drop going through the water heater, if there is one. It's dependent on the type of heat exchanger they have inside I guess. Shit now I'm getting more ideas for a portable shower lol
