So I just bought a 2017 Tacoma TRD Offroad which i love its a very nice truck, rides great. In my previous vehicles ive only had solid axles. I enjoy trail riding and have done moderate trails. Not sure how hard I'll be hitting the trails with this one but when i lift it i want it to be capable. I dont know much about which brands are good in the ifs world. What is gonna be capable offroad and still ride good. I have a friend that has the ICON stage 2 lift on his 15 Tacoma and i really like the ride in it. havent used it offroad. Everything seems to be geared towards going fast offroad and being in the south east its not really the environment. So what is best for trail riding. Looking to run 31-33s.

Depends how much you want to spend, I think ICONS and Old Man Emus are the go too on these forums. I personally lean towards ICON Stage 3s just for the extra travel.

There is so much information on this forum about lifts its unbelievable. From what I hear Icon makes great suspension components although you may find that you don't even need their high performance coilovers. Old Man Emu puts out a nice, reliable product and you'll probably spend less money. Keep searching around and you'll find something that fits your needs and budget.

kings and foxes are progressively valved. icons are digressively valved. All three are top notch but king and fox are all-around at handling while icons feel better the faster you go.

Not sure on the 3rd Gens but Toyota truck IFS geometry typically limits to a 3" lift before putting excessive angles on the CV axles.

I will say, having ridden King, Icon and OME, I'' sticking with King for quite awhile. Found them to be more comfortable than the other two driving around town and handle great in every offroad situation I put them in, whether it be crawling or screaming through dry river beds.

I wasn't planning to go above 2-3 inchs of lift just enough to fit 33s and not saying budget isnt a problem more of i only want to have to buy a lift one time

Yea if your only going 2 - 3" definitely make sure to at least get a UCA. a diff drop kit is inexpensive too so it might be worth it to prolong the life of your CV. LCA is really only needed when your doing long travel or anything higher than 3". Reservoirs are primarily a method to cool the oil in your shocks. So unless your out doing whoops you really don't need em but if your spending the money might as well get them. They look good.

make sure to get the right spring rate for your build. Go with stock unless you plan on adding armor.

You can fit 33s stock. On IFS lift does not help you fit bigger tires. If they don't fit stock. They wont fit lifted unless you're modifying your bumps, even then you probably would still rub. You just need to do some trimming/ maybe get a different offset wheel or spacers to get a larger tire off the uca.

You'd be surprised how far a stock truck with sliders skids can go. IMO invest in sliders/ skids first before you lift.

So run 265/75r16 (or 70r17) and you'll be fine. Go to 285's and you will be okay rolling around on the street if you lift it, but will have problems when stuffing it on the trails unless you trim in a few places.
