    Diff diapers hang down so far is whats holding me back. I'd love it to be bolt on/bolt off but Ill get hung up on it a lot. Dakota is right, basically like having diff clearance with 33's, but with 35's.

    The only reason I didnt go with that one. Im sure it protects more but it take away a ton of clearance.

    The front/bottom of our diffs are 1/2" thick so it'll take a lot to damage them.

    I mean the only reason why i didnt go with the bamf one. I know our housing is thick. Why loose all the clearance with the bamf skid. That why i got the cap over the 1/16 thick rear cap. The nice thing about the bamf cover is it does protect the yoke a bit. Plus its 400 bucks. I can buy a new rear end for that much

    A ton being 1/2" or 3/8" (depending on who you get)which really isnt that much when you can "safely" actually use that metal instead of worrying about denting it and causing issues. Well unless you drop on it in which case im not sure anything would be the best. Least a diaper angled right would let the impact force be a "sliding" force instead of a direct one

    O great another Nick in kitsap :) Welcome though! Just funny cause I ended up working with two other Nicks today (both were pretty cool though!) And i can think of another 3 Nicks i work with. Yet i dont know any outside of Kitsap :)

    The weakest part is the rear cap. You dent it and youll bind the ring. That was my main concern.

    We are running tundra axles. The sr5s and sports run a tundra axle. The offroads run a fj, 4runner axles.

    :annoyed:
    It's still an 8" ring gear. Same size ring gear that's in every other Toyota truck. Just more bolts where the ring gear mates to the carrier.....

    I guess I'm weird for liking the idea of being able to get home without assistance? :p

    Ehh, running starts are rarely the answer to a problem. Torque I could agree on, but HP isn't a factor at that low of speeds (I know, semantics).
    It's all about finesse. When I watch some other guys, I think "holy crap how did they manage that?" There's a really good video (if memory serves) of some Jeep meatheads on built-to-the-hilt rigs who are pounding through a gatekeeper and ripping up the course... and then some guy in a near-stock rig who makes it through perfectly by simply driving through the gatekeeper in reverse.

    I've heard stories! :spy::rofl:
