My '02 Tacoma makes this weird noise.

Most fuse box covers have it labeled on there, so check there, if not im sure you could just google a pic of it, ot the haynes manual would have it.

I am taking it up to a shop for a mechanic to put his ear to.

 

Mechanic said it's something called the air inlet servo, and it going crazy is causing the droning noise; but it's $200, and may only be available from Toyota. Have y'all ever heard of this part going out?

 

Go to 1:25 and he talks about it. It could be really similar to what you have. Have you tried to adjust all your air control levers to see if they work??
