Hey everyone, just found out I'll be moving to Las Vegas for a new job with the state. Any recommendations on good areas to live? Looks like there is some trails and of course plenty of public land to explore and cannot wait to move out of California (again).

I'd rather not live in North Las Vegas, especially after hearing that now! Preferably commute to the yard from a halfway decent area is the plan.

I'm in NW Las Vegas, like as far as you can go up the 95 before leaving the city... Its pretty nice over here. I also looked in Aliante before finding this place.

I'm in Aliante. It's pretty decent with pockets of nice. My only gripe is ease of access to the two main arteries (95 & 15) takes a little longer if you are trying to go to the strip or anything south.

Thanks everyone! Searching for places right now. If I recall correctly, I stopped to get gas out in the Durango Dr area, and it looked pretty nice, but when passing through the south of the strip area of from 95, that area didn't look as nice. So I have a little knowledge of the area.

Just looked up to see what you're talking about. I think I got gas at the arco between 95 and 215, but that a little over a year ago now, area looked ok, but a lot can change....

Crazy though man, big city stuff.

I live on the edge of Aliante. Yes it is North Las Vegas and I didn't even want to look at my house when I bought because it was in (north las vegas) but it is quit here. Not much going on. I am very happy living out here because you are so fare from the strip, and Yes Vegas is big but not that big. It takes 20 to 30 in traffic to get across town. Nothing like Cali, by the way what part of Cali you moving from.

I live in the SE, just outside Henderson and love it, mainly due to the proximity to multiple freeways for me. There are great areas all throughout the city.

I am actually a Real Estate Agent/Property Manager and can see if I can assist, feel free to PM me.

I'm currently in an apartment in the Henderson / Green Valley area. It seems nice here, but may be too far for you to commute.

I'm also in the Green Valley (Henderson) area which is nice but you'll most likely have to run the 95 or I15 to NDOT's yard which can suck but it depends on time of day. There are nice areas in all parts of the valley but I wouldn't look in the NE. I moved from there three years ago because it was getting sketchy
