I also having interest in planning for a Rubicon trail run 2018/19 while we visit my wife's parents in CA. It's a long way out but if I can get a good amount of interest from here it will be more likely to happen. Many more upgrades need to happen as well

 

Sweet truck. I really love the vinyl on the hood and doors.

 

Thanks man I like it too, I like it to stand out from a normal silver truck plus the black/silver theme looks good IMO.

edit: nice looking jade green 1st gen btw, the green has been growing on me.

 

Nice truck! It makes me really miss my old 2001 double cab. I love the simplicity of your frame rust repair. I never understood why a lot of people feel their only opinions are a new frame or part out their truck.

...and my water cooling system went out yesterday. Squeaky bearing turned out to be water pump which dumped coolant all over my work parking lot. Parts ordered and should be here tomorrow. Trying to get off early from work today so I can come back to limp it home with wife behind me. This truck has been lots of fun but is costing me more than I wanted. I think I might start a running price list of everything invested into it. I'm still unsure if I'll be doing the job myself over the weekend or paying someone else.

 

I did Rubicon in a Jeep in 1980. I planned on returning but never did. It was awesome!

I got this far today and couldn't continue without making a tool to get the crank pulley off. I'll run to the store tomorrow after work to get parts to build one. Hopefully I can have it all finished tomorrow before dark but most likely will be 2 more "after work" days of work because we have other errands this week to do.
