Something that hasn't been discussed is the tire size. A typical 315/75R16 tire puts about 10-11 inches in width of rubber on the ground. For something that weighs 10,000 lbs. or more probably won't see the traction loss on snow/ice that a truck weighing 4500 +/- lbs. will. The greater the vehicle P.S.I. in contact with the road, the more friction equaling traction that the vehicle will have regardless of the tread. This can be why some folks attribute good behavior with tires such as the Duratracs or the S/T Maxx tires compared to say a BFG KO2 or KM2. The actual tread width is less on the Duratracs than most tires. Comparing a 285 tire with a 315 even in the same tire will give varying results, even on the same vehicle. The Duratrac was originally marketed as a hybrid mud/all terrain tire, where the S/T Maxx was marketed as a winter tire with All Terrain attributes. Others like the KO2, Cooper AT3, Goodyear All Terrain Adventure, General Grabber AT2, Nitto Terra Grappler, etc. are true all terrain tires. Also the Cooper ATR is the same exact tire as the AT3, but with significant siping for ice and snow, but with slightly less mileage warranty. Just some ideas, as if you weren't confused enough! :p

Didn't see this. Pretty sure I'll be getting the duratracs. Looking into the at3's though!

Anyways, finalized my ~8 man shelter tonight. Adding the raised floor increased floor space. This is going to be for ice fishing so I'll be able to fit a cot (or 2), a dog bed, and have room for a couple holes. Can't wait to get the fabric ordered! It also makes a great hat for the weiner.

I don't think you can go wrong with the Duratracs. They are a nice balance between aggressiveness and good road manners.

I like mine, haven't had any complaints, except they're getting a little louder as they are getting older. But you've had MTRs so

Lol, my first tires were treadwright guard dogs and they sounded like I as driving a bus. I took Jeff when I got the MTRs and I remember him saying they were loud and I thought they were quiet

Decided to keep the MTR's on the Taco for now and replace the cruiser tires . Dropping from a 35 to a 33 since it isn't geared or built for the 35 on it. Looking at grabber AT2 since I can get 4 right around $500. They seem to have good reviews and will handle everything the cruiser will see. Ill be using it more through the winter since the taco is going back soon to get the engine buttoned up. Figured I could probably break even if/when I sell the cruiser.

Fwiw I just put about 4-5k on my new st maxxs and over 1000 was offroad.

Great tire. Love them. Held up better then mikes km2s in terms of tire chunking. Really enjoyed them. I'm picky about noise and was just suprised they were as loud as a mt to me. Still. Happy with them. Wearing well and expect to get lots of miles from them.

Went with the general at2 in 33 for the cruiser. Cheap, but seems reliable and will fit my needs.

Just saw the new general x3 (I think) that's a good looking tire and may be considered for the taco next year around this time.

I'll be dropping the truck off Sunday night. Hoping for a quick turn around but who knows what's going to happen. Lost a bit of hope on this rebuild and I don't know if it will ever be fixed.

Those new General 3s do look intriguing. I'll have to talk someone into trying a set so I can get feedback or try them on one of my old Toyotas for shits and giggles.

Lol, wouldn't sell Ash if my life depended on it. Just been enjoying making some dog toys and decided to sell them locally.

Not yet, but I'll be making some soon since both Ash and Stevie like them too. Just have to find where to get a quality squeaker.

Was wondering the same thing. But for Jax quality squeakers are pointless since he rips them out first thing lol. We've resorted to tennis balls lately to keep him busy when he's at home alone

How durable are those toys? My pointer mix destroys even the toughest toys I've found. I'd probably be down to buy one
