Hey - I'm piecing together what I'd want in my 17 tacoma. I love my 15 DCOR, but would like a long bed off-road model with a sunroof. Is that only available (locker + sunroof) in the Limited run? Is DCLB that much more difficult to maneuver? How much so when really tight between trees?

I love the DCLB, however 6MT doesn't come with it. Moonroof was also a must for me.

You can get a 2017 DCLB OR with Premium and Tech, MSRP $39235

On my test drives, I didn't find LB to be that much more difficult to maneuver at all.

My ideal truck is a Tundra King Cab with 8 feet bed. I like my size. I use my truck in downtown SF and downtown LA. Not like I live in a 1000 acre Montana Ranch.

I'd steer towards the AT version, I believe. Want that CrawlControl action. I drive in downtown SF, also, but really my size constraints are the garage, or ability to move through fixed trees and rocks with ease.

DCLB only comes in Auto. So you are in luck.

DCLB isn't the best for rock crawling, but it can be done. Turning radius is the main issue I have found.

I wasn't enjoying parking my DCSB last week in our own parking garage. Had to pass up other spots others could squeeze into better.

Just get the Access Cab dude. It's cheaper, has a long bed and looks better than any double cab.

Wife said that if I get a truck but can't fit the kids in it then I'd better be prepared to live in it, which got me thinking, when she does kick me out for something it would be nice to have the full back seat to sleep in...

That's my question, too. Does a child-seat fit in the access cab? can you put a baby in there? Not needed yet, but hopefully in the next couple years or so.

You can put one in the AC yes.

However, I never would. Few reasons:
    1) Seats are large, and it is quite difficult to get in and out of

    2) Opening front door and access door together creates an issue in parking lot

    3) The seat back on AC is VERY upright, thus making kids straight up high and straight with no recline, makes it harder for longer trip.

As much as AC looks better than DC, the DC is a better long term truck for family and growing kids.

    Just my .02 pesos.

Traded in the last one, going to start modifying this soon.
Can't comment about the other bits. Yes, it will be more difficult to manuever off-road. The wheelbase is slightly longer. Your approach/departure angles will be worse. I looked at those parameters before I went with the DCSB version. It is the best compromise for me coming from the short-wheelbase Jeep world and I really needed the interior to have enough space for two older kids and a baby, and cargo-carrying capacity we need these days.

I do push this thing pretty hard in the back-country... especially for essentially bone stock. A few maneuvers around trees and rocks have me worried about that. DCSBFTMFW fo sure. If kids weren't in the future plans, it'd be an AC decision easily. Thanks for the advice. Needed a few minds to bounce these ideas off of.

If my wife made me sleep in my truck, I wouldn't sleep in the back seats. I would rather sleep in the bed.

Parked side by side I noticed that my son's 2015 Tundra double cab (the shorter one) is about 6 inches longer than my 2016 Tacoma double cab long bed. If you took off the rear bumper off the Tundra they would be about the same length. I looked at the Toyota website and checked turning radius. The taco was 40.6 or 44.1 for the longer one. The Tundra was 44. So my taco needs a bit more than my son's Tundra to make a circle.

You shouldn't be surprised, the Tacoma is basically a mini-tundra.

I dream one day of owning a 6 seater double cab tundra with the 8 foot bed

New it's $11k cheaper than my overpriced PRO
