Hello Tacomaworld. I was wondering if anyone has had experiences swapping a 1st gen rear axel to a 2nd gen truck. Are there any modifications required for fitting? I am interested in this because there is an axel with 4.10 gears and lockers that I want to put on my 2008. Thank you.cor your replies.

The 1st gen truck is only 2wd so I'm still trying to source front gears. Not too interested in ordering online yet.

I would think that if it's an elocker the wiring on the 08 would have to be changed out or modified.

You sure they are around the same width? I would think the 1st gen would be a bit skinnier since the 2nd gen is a wider truck.

i just put a 1st gen third member in my truck, It bolted right in to my second gen rear end, but that is because they were both elocker rear ends... If I recall there was some differences between the two housings but it is raining and I dont want to go out and look, If you are still wondering tomorrow, send me a pm and I can measure the two and see if all of the mounting locations are the same.
