i have been told in order to run 285/70/17's I need to use max 2.5 setting. I know this will be stiff so my question is will using fj springs make a difference? Had an 07 cruiser a while back and kept the springs. Any advice is appreciated, thanks!!!

IMO, if you're going to spend a bunch of money on big tires, just spend the 180 bucks on proper springs for your new shocks. I think OME 885 at zero will cleat 285s if you're not loading the front of your truck with armor.

Won't fit using Tacoma OEM wheels. Tires will ill rub on UCA's. And without alot of trimming and wheel spacers 3 inches is minimum to fit 285/70/17's . Did you have trail edition wheels on your FJ? Did you keep them :) If so they have the additional back spacing you need to clear the UCA's! As far as rubbing... 3" is a minimum without chopping some metal!

My advice is do not get 5100's, save a few more dollars and get proper struts and heavier longer springs, I did 3" spacers in front and was not happy, I did 5100's up front and was not happy, then bit the bullet and bought struts and springs to specs I needed and now it is perfect! (but after wasting a fortune on trying the cheap routes :( )

    I run...

    - 17" FJ Trail Ed. wheels
    - Ironman TOY055C SPRINGS (3" COILS)
    - Ironman Nitro M0713 7100
    - BFG 285/70/17 KM2

    No rubbing :)

Thanks guys I just picked up the 285's on fj oem rims like yours. Hopes it looks as sweet as yours. Thanks for the help I guess I will wait and get OME springs and keep the 5100 settings at stock.
