Thanks for the details and pic! I am picking up my new 2017 TRD Off Road tomorrow, 10-31-16, and driving it direct to my garage for the DIY FF job !

I did my Tacoma last weekend. Did the 4Runner today. The 4Runner was much harder. It's much older and has a full box frame. I got it all but it took more time since it sits lower to the ground.

It took me less than a gallon to do both trucks.

RIP your trucks frame years down the road when the superior Ziebart product starts to crack and then get moisture trapped underneath causing corrosion. Good luck! Hope it works out well for you.

Seriously considering doing this to my truck. I have some questions.. How often would you have to spray the truck down after driving through salted roads? Does this application increase the frequency in having to spray down the underbody? Also, won't spraying the underbody take some of the FF off?

Most recommend twice a year, my plan would be once in the fall, and then again after the salt season

It will smoke a bit as it burns off, but it should not catch fire.

I have used both Krown and Fluid Film here where I live every October I take my vechile in and get it Krowned it cost about 150 dollars and they send you home with a free can too . Adds to the trade in valve my last two vechiles both Fords last and looked good no rust so every fall I get it done .I used Fluid Film at work on hydralic cylinders that sat outside till winter .Here is the stuff https://www.krown.com/ . Cheers Mike

This process looks pretty legit, and I found a place about 90 minutes away from me. Many thanks.

I use one of those oscillating garden sprinklers. The kind that put out a rainbow shaped spray and slowly move left and right. You can hook up the hose and slide it all the way to the back of the truck then slowly pull it back towards you. You stay completely dry and it rinses everything off very well.

I frequently drive on dirt roads, does fluid film attract dirt? If so will powerwashing remove the dirt and film coating?

there are folks on here that recommend driving on dirt a few days after application, so it gets a good coating of the dirt.

Fluid Film definitely attracts dirt. A small amount of dirt seems to get absorbed into the oil. It doesn't seem to keep on attracting more and more dirt though. Either way, it turns the bottom of your truck into a greasy, grimy mess.

I think powerwashing would be a good idea before recoating but I would just use a gentle water spray otherwise.

So it's safe to assume the underside of the truck will always look dirty?

I would love to see what that would look like if it was Fluid filmed now.
