Well, at least I didn't notice it pre TSB, but that doesn't mean that it wasn't there.

    Appreciate the info!

I got mines done on Saturday and so far I think the trucks shift alot faster than before feels alot smoother but I haven't got a chance to drive it long enough to experience a complete difference meaning on the highway. I also feel that this new upgrade is almost like using the ECT button I don't know if it's me but the engine sounds more alive or everything is more responsive like when it a enable. It's just my opinion might be wrong what does anyone else think.

Great news your Tacoma is performing much better. Documentation after new update should have a T-SB number such as 0077-16 or 0053-16, please disclose on tacomaworld Technical Service Bulletin number, could be the TSB we are yearning for, thanks

I just got a 2017 TRD pro and saw the VDS number was listed on the TSB. I took it back to dealer and they ran a health check on it and said it was up to date and they also checked to tranny fluid and said it was at correct level. I traded in a 2011 Tacoma 4x4 OR and will admit the shifting was much different and after reading this forum I got worried. In drive mode it often downshifts before RPMs get to 2000 in any gear. In ECT mode it shifts later and more like I was used to, the drive mode seems to try to be economical especially if you drive it like grandpa. Now that I have 300 miles on the truck the drive mode shifting seems smoother maybe Iam getting used to driving this newer tranny. I haven't had the park/reverse lag. I will say the TRD pro has an amazing suspension and the truck is great inside and out.

Had my 2016 TRD OFFROAD 4x4 in today to have the license plate light lenses replaced due to water leaking and requested the transmission T-SB installed. I attempted to have it installed during my 5,000 mile service on September 21st but was told that they were unable to perform it because Toyota is working on an updated T-SB and that they will contact me when the revised T-SB is available. Going by past experiences with this dealership, I knew that wasn't going to happen, but it didn't really bother me because I knew I could count on Tacomaworld to update me as soon as it was available. I've attached my invoice and a picture of the decal that was installed under my hood. I've browsed this site for years and have found so much great information, so thanks everyone. Hope this helps in some way.

The receipt lists the TSB number but no revision. The new one is revision 1 and that is not indicated on the receipt or sticker. Do you know if it is the revised TSB. I guess you will know after 1000-1500 miles. If it reverts to the old shift pattern it is probably not the revised TSB.

I am a Grampa and I hate my little ole lady transmission. I decided to park mine (again) and drive my great shifting 1998 low mileage Maxima most of the week. I won't be hounded daily with the transmission in my truck and maybe, after a few weeks, I will know if the new TSB is working for the shift flare for other owners.

Agreed , especially when it is a press of a button away from feeling like a different truck .

No Grampa needs a Ford transmission in this Tacoma.

I know this not be well taken but the common problem of the old shifting pattern coming back post TSB , well , maybe it relearned it from someones driving . :ohsnap::crapstorm:

I printed out the T-SB-0077-16 Rev1 paperwork and provided that to the service writer who then gave it to the service technician. I'm assuming its the revised update because when I was in there last month I provided them with the original T-SB and they said that it wasn't available to them because Toyota was working on an update. I've attached the service ticket from Sept. 21st.

Certainly not mine. I dog the shit out of it in the hopes this pos tranny will blow up and get a new one in it. Even as I type this I know that dogging it only applies with ect on. Without ect on I am slugging instead of dogging it. Hard to dog something that goes to 5th gear at 30 mph.

Sorry for the rants. Pretty sad to park a beautiful 2016 truck and opting to drive a 1998 Nissan. This is the 2nd time I parked it. The last time was for 11 days while battling with Toyota to fix the squeaky front end and replace the speedometer for resetting and repair the continuous grease smear in the driver glass and replace the 3 broken tpms sensors and find the problem with my transmission. Oh damn am I ranting again. My deepest apologies. But hey on a positive note I got me some chrome TACOMA stickers for my glove box. That should fix it.

I have found with my tacoma that if I press a little on the gas and keep it steady at that point , it will shift into 2 then 3 then 4th etc , all to early and be in 5th at 35 or so. If , on the way up from a stop again , I give it a little more gas right before it wants to shift , it delays the shift and acts more like it is in ETC . This trans seems to try to get into the highest gear as fast as it can unless it gets more input from my foot , it does not take a lot , but some . It is a pain but it works .
