Yea that's strange, but if the driveshaft is/was out of balance in the beginning then it'd stay the same

Same here..2inch spacer lift front, 1.5inch blocks in the back, CB spacer and Diff Drop. Harmonic Vibration comes in at 15mph and goes away at hwy. speeds or not noticeable. Considering the ECGS bushing fix. Thoughts..?

Three things going on for me:
    1. Slight shimmy in the drive train between 8-9mph when starting from a stop.
    2. Steady low rumble (like driving on a rumble strip) between 18-27mph.
    3. Resonant vibration that cycles every 1-1.5 seconds, most noticeable cruising between 40-45mph

Switching to 4H makes no difference.

No. I just traded it in for a new TRD Sport and will not lift this one.

    Got mine installed!

I didn't realize how bad my vibrations were until I got this in. Wow!

It definitely fixed the womp, womp, womp sound when coming to a stop. Also fixed a vibration under 40mph that I didn't realize I had.

I still have a little side to side sway in the steering wheel at 60+. I suspect that's slightly out of balance tires, caster, or steering bushings.

    Here's some side notes:
16oz of diff fluid leak out when removing the axle/seal
I used a pilot bearing puller & slide hammer to remove the old bearing. Be very cautious if doing this! The bearing lip is very thin and can easily break if the puller does not have a good grip. I also used a seal driver to install the new one. Both of these tools I got as loan a tools from O'Reilly auto parts:

I made my own puller and installed my ECGS bushing last Sunday. Holy crap what a difference! I had 5100's set at .85 for 2 years and it had a slight vibration. Put them back to 0 and installed 884's and then the vibration was REAL noticeable. Totally gone with the bushing installed.

And for those saying their trucks seem to wander on the highway after their lift.... You don't have enough caster. You need upper control arms. Even at .85 with stock arms I hated the way it tracked on the highway. Now with SPC upper arms and a proper alignment where I actually asked (and got) a little more caster than stock it drives amazing.

How much lift can the stock UCAs handle? I'm at 1.75" on 5100s and it looks like I have 1.5* of caster on one side and a little less on the other. Is caster adjustable on stock UCAs?

So I installed the ECGS bushing after I had noticed the axle seal leaking. The vibrations before weren't horrible, but noticeable. I had installed a new seal, but that seems to be leaking too. I'm hoping that maybe I just messed it up a little during install. I shouldn't have to replace the axle right? I have a new seal, and a new hub/bearing assembly ready to go in. Anything I can check for on the axle while I'll have it out again? I don't remember there being any play with the new bushing installed.

#1 I'm almost certain is the rear driveshaft not being exactly perfectly balanced/aligned. Good luck with that as it's not that easy/fast.
#2-maybe the rear driveshaft, but if it's more of a rumble strip could be a lot of different things.
#3-that's the typical front diff vibes that every one gets, even if it doesn't go away in 4hi (which is odd) that's the most logical place to start.

Message me if you have more questions or want specifics on what to check and all.

If the cv axle is oem, you shouldn't have to replace it. Most likely the seal you put in just didn't seat properly. They're not always easy to get perfect. Try to find some more tips on install for them if you haven't yet.

Ohh lol yea that wouldn't help. My old seal was so "rotted" or old that I didn't pull the whole thing at first lol, only the rubber and struggled with it til I realized that

I'm in this club now too but I intend to have the dealer fix it under warranty.

Anyone know if this problem is happening on the 2.5 gens? My 16 with 10k miles has all the symptoms with only 2" of lift up front. WTF!!
My 2010 has had a 3" lift for 50k miles and never got the vibe. Did start to leak after swapping the CVs out and had more play than the pasanger side but never vibed.
Thanks for any help and I know this is a 2nd gen thread so please no. :crapstorm:

Edit: I need to search more before posting. Found what I was looking for.

Can't beleave Toyota didn't fix this problem yet. At least the new TOB shaft has no crickets... yet.

Another 3rd gen here with the same problem. 15,000 miles on the odometer and the vibrations just began. 3" lift installed from day 1 of owning the truck (installed by the dealer prior to purchase). I have an appointment tomorrow morning and I'm going in the with ECGS video's, information from this thread and the TSB 0026-15. I'm going to request that they verify the problem (so I have the documentation that it exists) and ask that they perform the repair using ECGS's bushing. If I can't get any traction on this from them I'll just do it myself but insure I have the problem noted in the vehicle's history and I'll open a claim with Toyota Customer Care to push for the TSB to be expanded up to and including the current model year.

The dealership confirmed that the noise and vibration I'm hearing are coming from the needle bearing and that all of the symptoms match the TSB for the previous generation. They will replace the bearing under warranty, but will not install the bushing as a replacement. At least they were honest and upfront about it. I'll be replacing the bearing with a bushing myself. I'm also opening a case with Toyota so that hopefully the TSB is updated to include the new generation. I'm also watching my mailbox for a "free dinner" coupon from Mike Sweers.

Before anyone freaks out. I have looked all over this site for answers and have made a post without previous luck. So here I go again.

I have a growling pulsating vibration that can be heard and felt on the floor boards of the truck going between 110-120 km/hr, and sometimes at 80-100 km/hr while in 4h. I had the ecgs bushing installed before because I had the same vibration before but only in 2h, not in 4h. Since the bushing was installed there has been no issues in 2h. Now just in 4h. Anyone know what could be the issue here?

I'm running a revtek 3 inch lift level with 285 wheels -12 offset if that helps at all. I have a diff drop on the front that came with the revtek kit.

New information. The growling sound and vibration is constant between speeds of 110-120. As well with acceleration between those speeds.

BUT if I let off the gas the vibration and sound stops. Wheels have been balanced and zeroed out. Don't hear any constant grinding when turning.

The only time I hear some noise in 2h is when I'm crawling in traffic, 10km/hr or less. I feel the same vibration but it's not anywhere close to the extent when driving in 4h on the highway.

We had a crazy snow storm north of the border and most highways were snow covered with areas of ice. I feel the pulsating vibration even on snow covered roads.

I called ecgs and the said that they never tested there bushing at highway speeds.

I was told to remove the diff drop kit so the drive shaft would be back at a stock angle, this did not help it what so ever. Still had the exact same vibration.

What do you guys think the issue is?
Or even give possible suggestions on what you think might be wrong.

My 14 has had the small shake in the wheel. I thought it was my tires and have had them rebalanced a couple time. It does come and go. I installed my Icon stage 5 and now started to notice a small noise and vibration as you have all talked about.Thats how i found this. Thanks all. Does anyone have more info on the TSB that has been talked about?

Alright, FINALLY I had some success (if you want to call it that) diagnosing one of my issues. On the way to work this morning I heard a slight grumbling sound and felt a little 'grabbing" feeling in the steering wheel. It was the first time I really noticed the sound, so I quickly flipped 'er into 4HI and... VIOLA! the sound went away and the grabby-feel smoothed out. I think I just confirmed my suspicion about the from diff needle bearing being bad. Since I'm going to replace it with the ECGS spacer, I might as well do the CV axle (and why not do both?) to eliminate that as a source of my vibe/wobble. I wonder if smacking that curb about 40,000miles ago is responsible for all these issues I'm having. Definitely had a bad wheel bearing that I'm blaming on it. Did I also put a slight bend in my CV axle or at least damage it in some way that took a while to materialize? Maybe that curbing forced the CV into the bearing at a funny angle and caused it to fail, finally? Who knows, but my next project is to replace the CV's and the needle bearing. I'll definitely report back once I get it done - probably a few weeks.

May I also borrow it? When that guy is finished? I still have to order my bushing.
