Hey guys, I bought some 285/70/r17 tires for my 16 taco and I'm looking to get a good lift kit that is $1500 or less and gives me enough lift in the front to fit my tires with no rub but also something that is a nice ride. I do 90% on road driving and 10% off-road so I'm looking for something that fits well with my driving. I'm currently thinking about the toytec 3" lift with the bilstein 5100s and the rear add a leafs. Any suggestions would be awesome and I'm looking for something that's close to or comparable to stock.

Yup. The new OME nitrocharger sport shocks, OME springs, and light racing UCAs is at the right price point. You can even get a full OME Dakar leaf pack or some Deavers and be right around $1500. The new nitrocharger sports ride wonderfully on road and are typical OME levels of awesome off road.

5100 kits are less that $1K with AALs ... only maybe 2" tho and no need for UCAs

Lift won't matter any more to your mpg than your wheel/tire package.

I still scratch my head over folks spending almost 10% of high priced vehicle to toss perfectly good wheels, tires and suspension. On a 90% street vehicle.

    Then worry about MPG. :notsure:

Haha yeah but I'm sure once I actually have the stuff to go off-roading I'll probably actually get into it, I just get nervous doing that shit with my stock setup

screw mpg. lifting killed my highway mpg. still ok around town up to about 50. after that it drops off pretty quick. think i got 17 mpg hwy last trip around 75mph. and dont be scared, learn your truck and limitations, even stock they are quite capable trucks. if serious offroading is in your future, forget the lift and tires. buy good skids and sliders and have fun

I probably still won't do any crazy wheeling but I'll definitely take it on some sketchier back trails than I do right now....the stock tires just don't seem like they would be really good off-road and I'm just paranoid I'll end up with a flat in the back country

you had a situation they couldnt handle yet? i havent and ive been over rocks, thru mud and in places i frankly shouldnt have tried. but they never let me down. im half hoping to pop one on a trail to have an excuse for beefier treads but no such luck yet. And im on stock le2 tires

Edit:like this hole i drove thru. On the way back there was an abandoned jeep in the middle on my way out.

No I haven't I'm just being over cautious about it. Wouldn't wanna get stuck somewhere and have to try and jack my truck up while on a slope lol

I have a 2.5/1.5 leveling kit, and my 285/70's rub a little against the mud flaps. My mileage went from 18.5 to 14-15. Get ready for some shitty gas mileage. If you want to drive 70+ miles an hour, you will need to press the ECT button to keep it from shifting in and out of O/D. When my tires wear out, I'm dropping the lift and going with 265/70's.

Then get some duratracs and a winch. A stock Tacoma with good tires and a winch can get you damn near anywhere. My 2008 did the almost the entire Rubicon trail on stock suspension and 265/75/16 Duratracs. I only had to bypass little sluice. If I had a winch and some sliders and better skid plates, I might've attempted little sluice.

Only 10% lol. I've spent a ton on my truck, but I usually hit dirt at least once a week. But I don't complain about fuel mileage either

Whats your wheel offset? For that size 2.5"-3" will need minor trimming. Take it off road well better get use to cut everything. Also camber comes into play to keep it from rubbing.

It'll take more than minor trimming if ko2's are the same dimensions as my stt pro
