    Hey guys,

Question about the oem flares on our trucks. When you look at my front flares under certain lights/angles you can see what looks like a crease on each side...same spot. When you look closer you realize they aren't really dented or damaged, but as time has gone on they seem to become more noticeable. Because they are in the same spot on each side and have been present since I got the truck I know they must be some kind of stress point or imperfection in the plastic. I guess its more of a rant than a question but has anyone else noticed imperfections like this? Is it common? Any way to massage them out?

Again, incredibly hard to show in pics. stand out more in person but if you look in the light reflection on the flare you can kinda see where it starts. That's where they are located. I know its minor. Not too terribly worried about it just wondering if it is a problem someone else is experiencing. Cheap non rigid plastic I would suspect.

I know what you are talking about. I can see them on mine. Only at certain angles would you see them and only really if you were looking for something.

I agree it would be hard to capture in a photograph.

    Will try shortly

Ahh exactly. They stand out quite a bit a certain angles. Especially when the truck is clean, but when you try to look closer they almost disappear. Weird stuff

The heat of the sun will do strange things to plastic. My brother has a 3/4 ton gmc ('03) and the sun has warped them. That and rust proofing will make plastic distort.

Seriously. My truck is super white, parked next to an 040 Rav4 on an overcast day lol.

I can't even see them good enough to take a picture

I know what you're talking about. The flares are either dyed or painted plastic so you shouldn't expect them to take a finish like fiberglass or steel. Also the larger the piece, the higher likelihood of imperfections when it comes to plastic. On my white Tacoma, I can even see that the flares are a slightly different shade of color than the body.

But as a side benefit, the fender flares are less likely to take on dings from car doors.

If you are real OCD about it, you can take them off and have a body shop sand and repaint them and give them a high gloss finish.

Yeah I've been living with them this long so it's all good. I'm just ocd and a detailer so I always notice. More interested on how common this is as opposed to fixing I guess. Glad to see I'm not the only one

    Mine have them too.

Very faint and can't really see them like others have reported.

Thanks Gents. I'll chalk it up as the trucks only character flaw

So far so good.....although that damn squeaky clutch pedal when it's cold may need to be addressed soon.
