3 kids in back of Access Cab?

I currently have a 1st Gen Access cab, and my 5-year old fits well back there. Considering upgrading to a new Access cab, and it's a lot bigger! With that said, before due to the folding bench seat up front and with air bag off, when I had my fiance's kids around, we could all fit (she has 2, at 5 and 7 years old).

Going to the Access Cab, can I get 3 kids in the back? Is there a jump seat adapter to make it a full bench in the rear? I really want to avoid getting a double cab as it's tough to find them used under $30k, with the 6 foot bed that I need (I am baffled why most of these trucks come with the nearly useless 5-foot bed).

I have the SR5 access cab .. it has 2 very small uncomfortable fold down seats in the back. I am not aware of any adapter to make it 3 seats and if there was you'd need another seat belt to
.. So IMO the answer would be "No" you can not fit 3 kids safely in back of the access cab, you'd have to get the double cab/long bed in your case

The cab-and-a-half Tundra has more backseat room than a full double cab tacoma if you happen to find a good deal on one of those. Around here, they go for around the same price used.

Not possible, either the double cab or a different make- with three kids you should give a full size truck a look see- good luck

With three kids and those ages they grow quick. Even if you could fit three it would not last long. Tundra, 4Runner, Highlander, Seinna.

There are only two seat belts back there, so no.

Don't listen to these naysayers. You can easily fit 4 of 5 back there, depending on how you fold and stack them. I hear space bags work wonders too.

Otherwise...have you looked at a DCLB SR5? Bare bones, you'd be looking at around $28-29, depending on whether you can stop the dealership from adding extra crap to it. I deleted all my dealer options and cut about $2K off my price, then systematically added them back on at cost by buying and installing them separately.

Good luck finding used ones - they don't show up on used lots often around here, and when they do they're gone. Cars.com might be helpful, as it's good for private listings.

Why not throw them in the bed of the truck???

If my hubby can easily get two bodies into the trunk of his Muscle car, that's including duct tape & zip ties, your access cab shouldn't be a problem.

Although he does eventually toss them into the back of his pickup because the shovels and bags of lime just don't fit in the muscle car. Plus it's takes 4 wheel drive to get all the way to the back 40.

    With 3 kids, you need a mini-van.

If you need that much space, I might be looking at an SUV or fill size crew pickup. If you just absolutely want a Tacoma, and need a low price, how about a base SR5 double cab long bed? It will hold it's value very well and It will sticker around 32K. Late model used does not make much sense at all, the price wont be much different. If that's too steep, possibly a used F150, or Tundra access cab. You will be trading in that Tacoma access cab very soon with three kids. My 3 cents.

I have three in the back of a DC and they prefer the truck to the Sienna. If you aren't pressed for time, maybe just wait until you can find the DC with long bed so it meets your needs? Otherwise I think you are looking Tundra.

I've got an access cab. You can't fit any human being comfortably in the back seat. Time you give them leg room, the front seats are into the steering wheel/dash

If you plan to keep the truck for a while, definetely double cab. These kids get real big real fast lol. Keep an eye open and wait for a double cab long bed IF that's what you really want. It'll be worth it.

I wouldn't suggest a tacoma period. Either Tundra, Sienna, Highlander, Land cruiser

Would not recommend. Either go double cab, or a different vehicle all together.
