Has anyone been told they have to make an appointment to see if they need this? I ask because I've brought my truck in for the 10k service and was told I would need to leave it over nigh.

They probably want to check trans oil level.

Yeah...asked that my 1st visit. now my truck isn't bad but. I've noticed , when cold, there's a big delay from P or R to D. Also holding on to a gear and not downshifting . told this to the guy on my 5000 mile visit and he told me that was normal and how the software was set up. my sheet I get when I leave the dealership says trans fluid is ok......

Thanks dude. Guess you didn't bother to read. I'm asking about the difficulty in getting the dealership to do the tsb.

when i went in for the 1 years service i asked about the TSB and they said they would do it but could not tell me how long i would be waiting. the TSB is done by a very experienced tec not the tec that does the scheduled maintenance. my truck would have to wait in line after the service until the TSB tec was available. i will do it next time and have it scheduled but the same situation will exist combining it with the 18 month service. guess the best option is to schedule it as the only thing to be done.

They need to verify you have the symptoms listed in the TSB to make sure you qualify for the work. Also the transmission needs to be a certain temp to measure level so you could spend hours waiting for it to cool or a few to heat up. Best bet is to drop it off overnight and take the loaner or possibly spend the day with it waiting.
