    Hey all,

I recently lost a set of keys so I'm down to just 1. I did search the forums here and came up with sort-of conflicting information. Before heading to the hardware store to get a key cut and just "see" if my key does or doesn't have an active chip I figured I'd ask here.

    2013 Tacoma DC TRD Sport

    1. I do NOT have a blinking light on my dash when key is not in the ignition (it's there, but it's never worked).

    2. I do have a "G" stamped on my key.

Because of number 1 I would believe my key is not chipped...but because of number 2 I think it is - but then because of number 1 it would mean that the chip isn't "active" or necessary. Anyways...anyone have any thoughts?

    Thanks

My key has the "G" on it and is chipped, not sure if that is what that means though.

    it should be chipped.

Easy test is go get a standard key cut for a buck 50.... does it start the truck ... win, if not, you now have a spare key that gets you inside the truck.

Do you have the 4.0 Liter 1GR-FE engine?

If yes, you got a chip.
