Yep. It's not like you want these bolts to come off regularly. Glue them suckers down. Most people install new bolts at LBJ replacement (everyone except my dealer...).

You can put 55 lbs on a bolt with 3.5 fingers tied down.

Exactly. It's not like I'm spot-torquing them or anything, but 55 ft-lbs for that application seems a bit light.

NO, just the 2001 thru 2004. There was a manufacturing issue during those years.
The dealership that the OP's friend went to, should have taken care of it years ago, at no charge.

    Reserected from the dead.
Looks like one of 4 bolts that holds the radiator to the core support. Or one of the bolts that holds the bumper to the front frame flange.

@WinSlow939 homeslice, did you order your LBJ's? I see people mention camelback all the time, but I always order from Boch in Norwood. Their online prices are right on par with Camelback and shipping is damn fast. Figured I'd mention it in case you hadn't found them.

Today: went to Addicted Offroad and ordered a front plate bumper and sliders. went to metal shop to get prices on lengths of metal and plan how to build my rear bumper.
Yesterday: received package from Covercraft for 3 yrds of waterproof fabric that matches my seat covers.
Wed: wire brushed front 2/3 of my chassis in preparation for chassis saver... planed for tomorrow morning.
All Week: looked for people who can mill and turn something like this

They did. Thats the part I feel bad about the most. I trusted their call on it cause she came over and asked my opinion on what could be making the noise a couple weeks ago. I stupidly thought it was cause the front shocks/springs were so shot ( also 225K OG) that they were causing binding some how. She showed me the paperwork from Toyota..they had done a complete front end inspection and found nothing wrong, except they thought it "might" be the UCA on drivers, and "re-torqued" it...bullshit...that UCA bolt/nut hadn't felt the touch of a wrench since it came off the line, no lube and no marks of trying to move a rusted bolt. I know that battle very well, and what signs to look for that it happened  I should have checked the LBJ's anyway, seeing that I know how to check them for play properly and have done so on my rig with 160K on OG LBJ's many times..

I agree with Devin, its a wear item that should be replaced. And the fact that it made it that many miles is amazing. But she knows jack shit about trucks and I'm just pissed that the dealership let her go that long without informing her it was kinda.fuckin.time o_O their too obsessed with pushing the Turd Gen's to bother with us anymore

Thanks James! I did order them just a couple minutes ago, along with OEM rotors cause the aftermarket ones warped... from my aftermarket calipers deciding to stay locked up.. but I cant afford the OEM calipers at the moment :frusty:

But dude ya, I order everything from Boch...its pretty much next day! Camelback is great, but fuck waiting for parts to ship across country. I'm too impatient when it comes to the Yota

Have fun wheelin' this weekend, don't go climbing gravel piles without me :fistbump:

I have no idea..but my neighbor described hers being a loud metal on metal grinding/scraping sound that happened briefly and very intermittently, usually in the morning when she left for work. I drove her truck down the street to see what it was, and the fucker never made a peep. truck felt and drove completely solid and quiet...I was actually a little jealous. Now, not so much

Clunking/popping coming from that area. Best way to check your LBJ's is to jack up the front end as closely to the ball joint as you can (bottle jack right under the lower control arm works well), just high enough to get the wheel off the ground. Then use a long metal rod like a long screwdriver to check for play in the ball joint. Take the screwdriver and place it between the ball joint and the spindle so you can get leverage against the ball joint and try to move it up and down, if there's any play in it then it's bad. You can also try moving the wheel up/down or side to side to see if there's any play in the wheel, that can also mean you have a bad LBJ or possible bad wheel bearing.

Looks nice! My factory skid looks like a crushed tin can, picking up an aftermarket steel skid next week.
