Door sill LEDs

Hey guys, I couldn't think of a reason not to do this mod...totally brightens my eyes every time I open the doors. But it isn't finish until I find a mod to change the lettering.

This is a great mod imo, especially since I changed the dash leds to blue.

 

is that on a tundra or a tundra sill on a tacoma?
What lights did you use.?
Looks like maybe just twisted wires up,for a test run? more pics or info on procedure.. would benefit members

 

I had them apart bc I was putting on the heated/signaled/puddle light 4runner mirrors. Tracked the dome light wiring (blue n white) from the driver side column, so they light up when the doors open.
The wires are twisted for a test run, will be soldered to an inline fuse soon when parts arrive.


They are Tundra door sill (from China $30) install on a Tacoma. The lettering comes off, so I'll be making trip to the print store soon to get TACOMA template.

I don't know if putting China stuff on a Jap vehicle is legal. I'm passing on this.

 

A lot of parts are Chinese these days, hard to tell who they contract their manufacturers from. As long as they're just non-essentials, I'm ok with Chinese products....but to each is own

 

so you only put Japanese manufactured parts on your truck?

What have you done so far?

I'm not so sure our Japanese members/viewers would appreciate being referred to as a "jap"

I got the info for the mirrors from OP Benson X about Heated Mirrors (search for it), it's legit and very helpful....the only difference is that I used aftermarket 4runner mirrors ($120) instead of oem. Link here

The only part that took some time was searching for the wires: puddle lights connect wiring from the driver side column, signal lights from driver side side wiring (blue/red and blue/black), heated mirror option connected to relay (from ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/272181757210 ), and heater button from Toyota.

In addition to the mirrors install, I added these leds for shits n giggles...giggles when I need some lights in the bed/back, and up under the hood whenever I have the oh-shit moments. (Controlled by switches) (wiring to the rear goes up the driver's tail light and up a very small opening up top of the bed wall. ...very clean install. the connector you see is for the topper's brake light)

Threw in some blue LEDs in the dash, brighter LEDs in the control panel, braking/signal/reverse led bar in the rear.

Lol. missing green, yellow, and violet, but almost roygbv.
I've never liked the amber/orange dash/interior lighting. Also bc my day starts/ends while most people are sleeping.
