Nice. Let me know. I may be doing the gaspe loop next year which is more on road but will try and find some gravel stuff when I'm there. The swisha loop does look like it should be travelled in groups.

@Wheelspinner how much extra fuel would you suggest bringing? I usually carry 3 20litre (5gallon) jerry cans. Should I be looking to bring more?

Also thanks for posting all this stuff. Really helpful.

I did that highway loop many moons ago, probably before you were born. I remember wading out to the Roche Perce at low tide.

As for gravel stuff and a little more adventure:

The app is maps.me and I believe it works on all platforms. Is a gps app that works without cell singnal. You download the maps for the area your traveling before you leave then uses the gps in your phone/tablet (with a wifi only tablet you need a bad elf GPS receiver) to show your position. It's a great app but little instructions so make sure you get familiar with it before using it to not get lost lol. Once you get the app I can email you the track and you can load it through the app.
Really it depends on your truck setup. The farthest stretch between gas stations is roughly 500km (311miles). My 4 cylinder access cab probably could have made it but I put 5 extra gallons in to be safe. On the other hand out one friend with a double can long bed on 35's used 9 additional gallons and was cutting it very close. I'd say 15 gallons is a safe bet and what I would carry if I did it again. Various loads, idle time, getting stuck turning back and going a different way because of missing bridges etc can all drastically change fuel range. Also we were all fully armored with Rtts, full camp setups, tools, parts blah blah so we were getting junk mpg but I feel you'd have to be prepared like that for this trip. The trials weren't rock crawling technical but it sure was comforting to be armored up for that washout.

Gotcha. I'll probably get another 5 gallons for 20 total. I'm armoured up, and a heavy double cab. Better to have and not need than to need and not have. Exactly my same thoughts when it comes to armour. Like you said it's definitely comforting for those oh shit moments when the trail gets washed out. Happend to me on one trail and I was glad I had it. Lol

I saw that guy with the RTT, swing out with rotopax on the tailgate on my way back to work and thought that this guy is on a road trip because I've never saw him before! I'm so jelly of your adventure!

I just res more about it and realize I ride my atv on some section of the loop! I think I recognized some places on the picture posted too where I stopped to cook hotdogs on my stove lol.

After looking at the pictures I am wondering if it can be done with a nearly stock truck?

Thanks for checking out the thread! It was a fun trip. I made this thread before the trip but unfortunately it didn't gain interest till after we got back. After doing it id say a stock truck could do most of it. Some sections were very very rocky so I'd say atleast have a good set of strong tires and I was very glad to have icon suspention to soak up all the bumps. We did air down to about 20psi to help smooth things out. The only thing that would scare me away from doing it stock is the fact that it is unmaintaned for the most part and that huge washout was completely unplanned and unavoidable. I'd recommend tires, treds/maxtrax, shovel, and a strong come a long/hilift jack/winch for self recovery at a minimum. Also I would try to go with atleast one other truck but that's just me. It is a very remote trip and a lot can go wrong in a hurry.

I always forget to take a look at Canada's section for event near my place. And when I do, it is always somewhere far east lol
Because there is not a lot of offroad trails for trucks and Tacoma enthusiast in my region, I don't really want to invest too much in offroad gears to do a trail once in my life lol truck is fully capable to reach my hunting and fishing spot as it is right now. I also do atv riding, so my offroad trips are on the quad with my buddies but now we know pretty much all the trails around, maybe a trip in the Taco would make me upgrade from atv to truck all the way. And finally for camping I always go on island, so reach it with my boat, truck stays park at the lake access lol

If next year I can get a vehicule from the company I work for for daily driving, I will be more comfortable to mod my truck to do some more offroad. If so, I would create an event I guess, or participate to someone else event

Where are you at in Ontario? I live near the border, maybe I saw you once, since i spot every Tacoma on the road, wich my GF thinks it's annoying lol!

Keep me posted. I DD my truck with all the stuff on it. Other than the gas mileage not being the greatest it works great.

I'm in the gta so I would be about 5 hours away from the trail head based on gravel travel and google maps. It would be a week trip for me. You may have spotted me though. Drive out there every now and again.

Lol that's funny my gf gets annoyed with it too. Glad I'm not the only one who does it. Haha.

I checked your album:spy: and I can tell I would remember a taco like yours lol but I'm sure I will see you sometime!

And I know saying that it is my dd is not a real excuse to mod it lol juat trying to convince myself because it is not the time yet with the new house lol (yeah, blame it on the house!) and still paying the truck. But I have a list of things to buy, and will try to fab some myself.

I am not sure what gta mean, exept for grand theft auto lol but My guess is that it is near Toronto since it is 5hour drive

Is it possible to have precision on the location of the culvert you guys cross? It seems to be really near one of my friend hunting spot lol

Edit: is it the culvert right on the John Bull creek?
