    Frist post on the site everyone, nice to meet you.

    I searched these forums and was unable to find the method I use for a trans flush. So I wanted to create a new thread and share the method.

    I change my fluid every 25k with normal fluid, or 50k using Amsoil signature series synthetic. I have read a lot of debates about the fluid, and figured changing it sooner is better than later.

    I want to drop the pan and clean magnet / change filter after 100,000 miles, so I leave the pan on and flush without changing those a few times.

    The fluid is the most important , to change it easily;

    - disconnect on of the rubber trans lines (preferably the one moving fluid from the trans into the cooler) if disconnecting the line moving fluid form the trans you want the front end of the rubber hose disconnected, this is where fluid will come form
    - put a bucket under the rubber hose that is dangling, start the truck and drain 1 qt of fluid out ( I use a bucket that has qt markers in it), turn the truck off @ 1 qt drained. (1 qt is safe, your pump will never run dry)
    - replace this quart with new fluid at the dipstick,
    - rinse / repeat until you have gone through 3 Gallons of fluid (12 quarts), or if you want to be really thorough 16 quarts.
    - re attach the cooling line once you have replaced enough fluid.
    - if you measure correctly you will have perfect fluid level, but you can warm truck up and check once your done.

    This can be done really fast, especially with the truck on ramps, with a helper to start / stop engine you can be done in 30 minutes with no mess. you will have flushed out the entire system .

    some side notes, ATF with lower Brookesfield Viscosity will add lots of power and efficiency, Amsoil Sig series is 20% easier to pump than non boutique oils, and Redline is even better, it is esther based and is over 50% easier to pump than factory filled oil!! this translates into less friction, lower heat, and more power delivery through the torque converter.

    adding this efficiency, with high end temperature additives, I believe using these oils is better for the transmission in tough conditions than an add on cooler. just my 2 cents.
