I installed an Innovate MTX-D boost/vac gauge today and I cant find a source for a tach signal. The user manual that came with it says to connect to a negative lead of a coil, a negative lead of an injector, or the ECU. If anyone has a wiring diagram for a 2014 v6 that shows any of these I would owe you a beer or two.

After a lot of digging and calls to Toyota I believe I found out where to get the tach signal. On 2nd gens, its at the OBD port pin 9, a black wire with a white stripe. I haven't verified it for sure yet by testing and connecting it to the gauge but I am 99% sure. I will update after I have it hooked up.

Use this info at your own risk.

I am installing the same gauge, I have a 2006. Any luck with that connection? I am going to pull the electrical book and look to see if that pin is the same for my 2006. I don't have the tach hooked up at this point. But without the tach hooked up it measures vacuum great, but I can't seem to get it to go into boost and hold. kinda acts like the belt is slipping. New belt going on to hopefully help that. but maybe it has to have a tach signal to work right. Even with it not registering right, I can not get over 3.1 lbs of boost. And that is only for a second and it crashes.

Yea, that is the connection. I couldn't say if it's the same in a 2006. I don't think it needs the tach signal to work right though, when i was getting mine figured out i didn't have the tach signal hooked up and everything worked as its should except for the tach signal bars around the outside of the gauge face.

Is the OP going to use the data logging ? If not, then only a switchable source is needed.

Yea, I use data logging. Probably could use it more but so far I've mainly used it to create baselines before I've added parts. It helping to see differences when I added a bigger fuel pump and a smaller s/c pulley. I'm no expert though so I could probably take better advantage of the data logging feature of the gauge.
