    2011 TRD TX PRO

    How she sits today:

    Well let’s take it back to where it all began, Thanksgiving 2011 and I was in the market for a truck; all I knew was that I wanted a mid-size and 4x4. After looking at the 2011 Colorado and being disappointed, I started to look at Tacomas… and I got hooked. I started looking around for TRD Off-Roads in Speedway Blue, but they turned out to be a unicorn in Maryland. While heading out to the family camping trip in Harper’s Ferry, WV, I saw a SWB TX PRO sitting on the lot and had my checkbook ready. Even though the TX Pro brought the price tag up considerably more ($34,581) than the TRD OR I was able to strike a deal by trading in the beater Honda Pilot I was driving and got the price down to $24,384 (AKA every damn penny in the new truck checking account).

    Five years later the mod bug has finally bitten me, I don't have much on the truck now, but there's a lot on the way.

    Thanks to the following build threads for advice and inspiration:

    @all.on.black
    @HomerTaco
    @MrGrimm
    @n0rth
    @NYCO
    @RelentlessFab
    @PPansini10

    Definitely plan on copying the storing of the bedrack and RTT setup. Truck looks sweet, I'm eager to see the finish product.

    I got the engine pulley at a garage sale for $15, it was in a 5 gallon bucket full of oil. If you decide to go with the 4 pulley method for the corners, reinforce your ceiling with a few extra 2x4s and use pulleys with at least a 2" wheel, I tried using 1" wheels and a cheap pulley and it didn't go well.

    It was damaged in shipping when it was sent to the original owner, he was sent a new old and the old was was sold to me. I was able to use the bottle-jack to bend the aluminum back into place, looks like new.
