I have a 2012 Quad Cab 6ft bed 4x4 Tacoma.. I just recently added a 2in front leving kit and some new rims and tires and am very pleased so far. The only issue I have is that the rear end is a tad bit lower than the front. So I've searched the net am not sure whether to go with a 1in or 1.5in leveling kit for the rear. I've also read some things about 1in to 1.5in add a leaf kits. Can anyone please shed some light on this subject??? All your feedback is grealty appreciated.

    Thanks

So your leveling kit didnt work......

Raise the rear or lower the front 1/2 the difference you want to 'correct'

I've got the same issue with my 2015. With a 2" leveling kit the front is about 3/8" higher. I ordered the Icon progressive aal but haven't gotten it yet, should be here Monday. I'm hoping to have about 1" of rake with the aal.

So the leveling kit in the front served its purpose, which was to be able to fit bigger tires. So Bill I'm assuming what you are saying is that raising the rear 1.5" would work? Realize you are talking to a total novice, but if that is what you are saying my next question is add a leaf or spacer??

    Thanks

Add-a-leaf. Never use spacers or blocks.

All about what you want. I have 2" Motofab kit in the front with 1" Toyotec blocks in the rear, dead nutts level on 2014 DCSB 4x4. Awesome ride with 265/75/16 tires.

Check my lift link on a DYI add a leaf. You can tune the lift slightly by adding a leaf and pulling the overload spring.

What I meant was when I said it didn't work was that it didn't 'level'. It lifted. Too high for level.

Depends. You don't tell us how far you are now out of level, and if you are wanting to stay level, or put a proper rake back in.

Keep in mind that 'level' is for looks. Only. No function is served, and the function of engineered rake is removed. Many are fine with that. It's just not my preference. Just like lifting by pre-loading coil springs isn't optimal.

Ok so after all your feedback and my own research on the net I think I'm going to go with 1.5 in in the rear. So my next question is add a leaf or spacer??? Is there any known issues that can come up with either, does one have more longevity than the other, or does one have any advantages/disadvantages over the other???

I installed the Icon progressive aal on mine today. I left the overload leaf out and now the rear is about 1 3/8" higher than the front. Much better than the nose up look with just the 2" leveling kit in the front.IMG_20161107_145512471.jpg
