I have two brothers, sooo, maybe that's why I got a sport.
Really it was the functional scoop

The OR has a "softer" suspension and I find it a more comfortable ride. The road noise was the worst in my Limited loaner. I think the thinner tires made it a slightly "harsher/stiff" ride. The sport rides okay, but its a stiffer suspension.

The sports hood scoop *does* impact your field of view to a minor degree.

There are differences in the brake assemblies between the OR and other trims because OR has CRAWL control. It makes the brakes have an annoying(in my opinion) buzzing/pulsating feeling in the brake pedal about every other press. Toyota can't/won't fix it (it exists in the 4runner trails as well). The replaced the assembly in mine and its less annoying but still present.

Sports come with 17inch wheels, which open up more C-rated tires to choose from. For example, if you want BFG K02s on your OR, you will have to get E rated tires (or upgrade to 17 inch wheels so you can get the 17 inch tires).

I do mild off roading and I have never needed more than 4hi. I haven't come close to needing the locker, MTS, or CRAWL control. Unless you are really going on some nasty trails, a sport should serve your purposes in that department.

You lose a sunglass holder with the OR. The sport has it, but the OR uses that space for the CRAWL control and MTS knobs.

Allegedly, the OR has a better re-sale value and is more sought after.

That's all I an think of in terms of real world differences.

we have the squina or whatever it is and the 4runner.
Dude toyota canada is stupid. When I asked them last year why we didn't get the TRD OR DC in 2016 model, they told me 'we did focus groups and concluded canadians wouldn't want a double cab off road option'

I emailed them back saying 'you must have had a bunch of soccer moms and soccer dads in your focus group because if you go on any toyota tacoma forum everyone is pissed we didn't get it here'

the reply back was along the lines 'we appreciate the info and will look into it for next year'
what do you know we got the DCOR haha

I would expect this, I mean I could complain I bought the sport and then listen to how stupid I was and just go lose a few grand to get what I should have got if I was such a waste case.

But, I am happy with the sport, or at least il keep telling myself that.

Yep, you're getting screwed in too many other ways to also have to deal with that shitshow. Worry more about wild fires, earthquakes, droughts, insurance rates, insane real estate market and crushing cost of living.

Remember it's only a matter of time before Arizona has a coast.

I guess I was saying it makes me a bro. I was equally being a smart ass. I am a man and wanted the scoop. I knew I was going to lift it, change the shoes and sound. I have ADHD, so I could not put up with crawling anywhere. The sport was the best choice for me.

Not if you want an M/T. Can't get the color matched bumper unless you get the premium and tech package, which is not available with the M/T

You can always just order the plastic trim pieces from the factory and get them painted, no big deal and cheaper than buying the whole tech package.

Besides, there's nothing wrong with having chrome bumpers on a truck.
