this morning I had a shop take my spare from my 09 and replace one of tires due to slow leak. They put the leaky tire back on the spare rim and stuck back under truck.

It looks like they put the sensor on the new rear tire and old tire doesn't appear to have tps.

I've never seen the tps blink before, just stay lit.

    Thoughts? I cannot reset.

I don't believe so. It's just a regular tire stem. The tps stems are metal.

Like I say d the reset won't do anything with a blinking light.

I know right. I just read the TOYOTA manual and it states spare doesn't have a tps. It's strange because they put the tps back on and the tire is inflated properly.

Was your light blinking before you took it into the shop? If the reset button did not clear the TPMS light and all tires are at correct PSI, the next thing could be a damaged TPMS sensor.

No. the light was off. It had been leaking for weeks but I'd fill it up and the light would go off. Then two days later back on. Then repeat.

I've never had it blink before. Ugh

Best option is take it back to the tire shop and ask/tell them to scan the TPMS, assuming they have a TPMS scan tool. If they do not, have them pull the spare tire off they put your rim with the TPMS. Inspect the sensor for damage or black rubber tire marks (A damaged sensor may or may not have much visible damage. If it was caught with a tire machine usually it will) . If it is damaged, get them to replace and reprogram sensor.

Blinking tpms light means a problem with the system. Most likely damaged sensor given you just had the tire changed.

The TPMS on my '09 went out last year as I was driving down the road. I figure one or more of the sensor batteries went dead. Any chance that is your problem?

I doubt the same day the tire got changed the battery went dead.

I guess they broke it. No way to prove it though.

    So now what? Damnit.

Go back to the shop and tell them it doesn't work, let them solve the problem.

I'm surprised the batteries are still good on my 07
