The sport needs tires, the stock ones are ok, its like running shoes. They will hold up, but boots would be better for off pavement stuff.

Yea, its a ways away. I was asking more about brand. I figured Icon, Fox, etc. You get what you pay for (usually).

    Icon is questionable.

I'd go OME or go over Icon to King/ADS or Fox.

Pick up some Kings/Icons/Fox for beginner off-roading. TW Logic right there.

If you're trying to get into it, then I would say 5100s. Best bang for your buck.

    Fuckin' A..

You can fit the same size tire with a lift as you can without one, too.. so realistically the place to start with "capability" mods is buying good tires for your intended use.

Making it look the part, so to speak.. can come later.

^^ Keep your stock rims, pick up some used decently threaded tires. Get them bitches mounted and you're good to go.

New if you want, but you seem to be talking about budgeting.

Hey man. There's a huge group here in the Tampa bay/st Pete area. I can say that my stock 16 trd sport has/could do about 85% of the trails in the area.

We just had a meet on Sunday. Had about 50 trucks from Tampa/Orlando. Get on this page.
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/where-are-all-the-tampa-bay-area-people-at.262544/

Here are a couple pictures of my truck stock at citrus wma. And one of it now. Like I said. Your truck stock will do just about everything you'll come across unless youre really pushing it.

Went with KO2's but sick of seeing everyone running them. Brother has a 3.5" lift with 37" coopers awesome tires.
