If I wanted a Prius, I've would have gotten one. They never have appealed to me. I just said it was a
little rant, sheesh! I guess I was a little spoiled coming from a fully loaded Camry. Like I said, I really
love my truck. Will be getting my windows tinted, some steps since I'm kinda short 5'5, weather tech
rain deflectors, and bed liner to keep my things from sliding all over, like it does now.

Crash ratings are based on accidents involving other vehicles in that class. So her car was rated based on accidents with other Geo Prism's, and your truck with other Tacoma's.

Which is where the argument comes from that I'd rather be in the biggest vehicle with the best rating than a small vehicle with the best rating, because the Geo will always lose that fight.

Man I've really gone off on a tangent with you in this thread :D

I totally agree with you. Bigger is safer (height and weight), just as newer is safer (technology, R&D). It's a pretty dynamic scale if you were going to try and decide which is more important, and would change in every instance. 5 star safety ratings on 3000 lb cars would be great, if everyone on the road was driving a 3000 lb car. It seems at least half of the vehicles on the road are truck based platforms.

Do you have many vids or info regarding collisions in new compact vs older (10-15 yrs) full size? I've always thought bulk is worth paying for in a vehicle (gas and upfront cost) for the huge safety benefits.

It's all good.. nothing wrong with a little rant an hell, most threads get sidetracked..
I would say that for the price of sidesteps and how flimsy they are, especially if you ever offroad..
You can usually get some sliders which work same way for your short-self..and just added protection off roading also.. really don't cost that much more than side steps..:rasta:

I have a short wife too, claims she's 5 ft, measuring tape said 4'11.

I don't dispute her claimed weight

I don't think you need a bedliner... the Tacoma rubber mat is a very nice item and nothing slides on that for sure.. check it out.
PS... I have heated seats in my TRD Sport, but I think it's part of the upgrade/premium crap or something..!

I recommend a bed mat for $100 than bed liner. or you can add bed liner to your bed mat and replace it every 10 years...

Unfortunately that's just how Toyota rolls.
They strip down their new releases and spoon feed you basic features that should be standard during the 3 year re-fresh.
They were putting LED tail lights on cars 10 years ago, but not on new models.
Look what they with the DRLs
Every car mfg has then standard except Toyota.
Basic stuff like automatic headlights and wipers are only available in top tier packages.
They know exactly what they are doing.

I got mine it's the steps, I wouldn't do that again. They are just too dam close to the floor of the truck any ways, it's like an extra inch or so to step. I would consider sliders with steps as these are mounted on the frame not the body, thus I believe would act more as a step. The steps are good for helping reach/put something on the roof rack though.

New Tacomas have too much garbage in them as it is. When it comes to Toyota pickups, I miss the 1980's.

The way Toyota is leaning, I bet the 2018's will have heated leather seats that give you a reach-around as you drive and a kiss on the back of the neck when you park it. WAAY too much garbage in these new trucks.

Sign me up! I just hope the "reach around" apparatus is heated like the one on my friends Prius.
