Sounds like you're pretty well set up already. Should you decide to drive the Alcan Hwy, one of our guys drove his '13 Taco up a couple winters ago and would have some insight for you.
I ran Blizzaks on my VW rabbit (MK1), Audi S4 and wife's CRV's and they are marvelous. We have icy roads in town most the winter and the extra siping and hydrophilic compounds really make them stick even right at 32* where ice is most dangerous.

We're taking the ferry on the way up but maybe try that out down the road.

We drove the ALCAN in Feb 2011-it was an intense experience in winter. -38 and snow blind for a whole day. Had a VW Jetta Sportwagen with studless Nokian Hakkapollitas back then. Car ran fine, but it's hard to find lodging on the ALCAN in winter.

Did you go with stock tire size for the blizzaks or did you go with a narrower tire?

Just a piece of advice: Invest in Amazon Prime. Free shipping is invaluable to us up here. Especially since it covers tires.

Oh wow. You'll be doing quite a bit of driving, then.

Be glad you missed this cold spell.

I'm in Anchorage - and I have a engine block heater, oil pan heater, and battery heater all plugged into a 3 outlet extension cord inside my engine bay that I then plug in. Works like a charm. Def recommended.
