Anyone else have issues mounting a RCI aluminum tank skid on a 2017? I installed their aluminum front through t-case skid pretty much effortlessly. I can't make the tank skid mount up.

There is now way it fits. My guess is Toyota changed the hanging straps on the tank. The threaded stud is just to be too short or the bends are wrong on the skid. I can't even get the new or existing nuts to catch a thread. I'd have to bend the skid with a floor jack or something and compress the tank.

I emailed RCI and will follow up with a call tomorrow. Just wanted to see if anyone with a '17 got it to fit.

Mine was pretty tight but I used a jack to press the plate further up so I could thread nuts on.

I'll try again tomorrow with it mostly empty. Still don't see it happening.

I installed them with a completely empty gas tank. It bolted up... not ideal IMO but we'll see how it goes.

Thanks, I guess I'll run the tank to empty before I try to bolt it on.

Yes, the emptier it is, the easier it will be. Jacking the skid into place and putting a bit of pressure on it will alsommake it a lot easier.

It's got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas.
My tank was almost full when I put my steel one on. I used a jack for convienience but I had plenty of threads on all the studs. I would have liked them to include some washers though, the nuts are barely wider than the slots in the skid. It's not coming off but stuff like that bugs me lol

I went back with the factory nut/washer combo. Steel is also thinner so it should fit just a little bit better.
