ok, so i have an aftermarket kenwood head unit, and bought an aftermarket locking tailgate handle with backup camera already in it. Well i have had this setup for around 6 minths, well the other day i was backing up and i usually dont look at my camera until m pretty well backed into where im going to park, just to make sure im straight and not to far back. Well when i looked at my head unit display i kinda noticed something odd, my image was upside down, so i put it in neutral and then back into reverse and the image was corrected.

So i thought that i was just seeing things, well the next day as im backing in to my parking spot at work, the image is correct, well when i get off of work and get home, while backing in, its upside down again, so i put it in neutral and back to reverse and the image fixes itself. Now, this is whre it gets interesting, as the days pass, i start to notice the image has flipped side to side sometimes, sometimes it has flipped side to side as well as upside down, and sometimes its just upside down.

My question is, do you guys think it is the camera, or the receiver aux jack on the headunit? Like i said this head unit is only around 6 or 7 months old, but im not sure which way to troubleshoot this. Anyone else ever run into this issue before?

I have never had this issue before, but it seems to me that it would be the head unit. If it's a backup camera like most I have come across, then it's just a passive dummy unit that displays whatever the camera is pointed at. There's no processing of the image to change orientation. But I have seen settings in head units to change orientation and adjust (calibrate) what the camera is displaying. This is what leads me to think it's the head unit.

Is it possible for you to perform a head unit firmware reset or upgrade?

I will have to check for the firmware upgrade on it. I havent done that in a while. I was think it would probably be in the head unit. Ill check on that later this evening.
