I admit to not searching here first, but am rushing to find the correct info as I am going to my dealer in the morning, and want to be sure. They say the trans oil can be checked hot,but I am sure I have read here that it has to be done cold. If so has anyone got documentation on whether it is cold or hot that I can show them?? Thank you

105 - 113 degrees is the recommended temperature for a tranny fluid check. Best to leave it so it's cold and they can warm it to that range.

I had mine checked twice. Leaving it overnight is the best bet as it saves you a lot of time while they wait for it to cool down. You're welcome, good luck!

its true. in colder climates it can cool down in about 90 minutes sitting outside... but its best not to rely on nature for that.

110 degrees only takes a minute to warm up to under normal conditions. play it safe and leave it there for the day/overnight to get it done right. i do more trans services a month than the rest of my shop combined... this is how we prefer it.

Dealers now have a way to check it hot too. Its a very involved process and they have to have the equipment which compensates for the higher temp of the fluid.

?. Asked about getting it checked my first oil change after complaining about delay from p to d. I was told the delay was normal . I got my sheet showing trans fluid was checked and normal . So can or can't they actually check it after just driving up? just had 2nd oil change and sheet shows it was checked.

The tsb for the tranny fixes the p to d delay. The delay is not normal, after getting the tsb I have no more delay. They may have just hooked up to tech stream to check tranny fluid level, but this isn't accurate, unless they have the specialized setup mentioned above. The manual check is best, but time consuming. And yes, your truck was built in Texas, the vin starts with a 5, which identifies Texas.
