Lifted '16 Tacomas

How long ago was the lift installed and has this always been happening since the lift install or did it show up later on?

 

Got my 3" lift , Fuel D517 18" wheels, 285/65/18 BFG KO2's, and N-Fab 3" W2w step bars also gave my boy a Quick bath. Snowboard rack, wind fairing, and front tint to come.

 

Showed up after going off-road for the first time. That's when I took it in and had them re-torque everything which didn't help much.

 

One thing I can say is I had to tighten up my lower front shock bolts to about 100 ft lbs after lifting. I forget what factory spec was but it wasn't enough. I got a slight clunk until I tightened them up. I don't know what your mechanical abilities are but it's worth going over yourself.

Nice setup.....I was interested in doing the king complete set as well. how does the drive feel on the freeway. i know kings are more for off-roading and fast action. Also do you have the parts number for the kit. been looking for a solid complete kit and cant seem to find them. thanks.

Hey joe it drives great, id say its slightly softer than the stock sport suspension on the slow crawling stuff. Once you get going about 40mph on dirt roads with pot holes and stuff its unreal, so smooth! When I see bumps on the road driving around town and stuff I speed up over them its so fun. As far as highway driving its about the same unless you hit some of those metal grate things before bridges you notice its way softer. I love the set up

didn't get the compression adjusters they are pointless, only make it stiffer, its unnecessary unless you're trying to jump your truck or race it and Im not doing that lol. hope I was able to help let me know if you have another questions.

 

Thanks dude they are 265/75/16, the fun countrys are the biggest 265s I know of they are a true 32in tire. scs f5 rims with the -25mm offset, been getting a bit of rub under flex while turning just because of the aggressive offset but its not enough rub to really bother me. might trim a little but probably not..

 

Will upload better pics but for now here she is. 3rd gen bilstein 5100 set at 1.55 setting, cooper at3 285/70/17 tires with TRD rims. Stock coils, stock ucas and no wheel spacers. No rubbing whatsoever!!

 

Since installing my lift I have a few issues. The steering feels very sensitive at higher speeds, sometimes feels hard to control. Feels like the slightest move in the steering wheel is too much, I also get quite a bit of bump steer. I'm lifted 3" up front and 2.5" in the back. I still have stock front upper control arms which from what I have read seems is probably the root of my problem. What are you guys thoughts? My alignment sheet is below, maybe that's part of it? I have no vibration, steering wheel is straight and the truck seems to track straight but who knows.

 

You have no caster. You need to try and adjust the LCA cams as much as you can while maintaining camber, then reset the toe. UCAs would help some. Adjusting the lower cams give you more clearance at the cab mount also.

 

I actually have no rubbing at all but more clearance is even better. I think i'm going to try another alignment shop, I got a bad feeling from these guys from the get go. This was their 2nd attempt. First attempt left worse than it was when I brought it in. Not to mention the broke 2 of my 4 TPMS sensors and gouged all 4 of my rims to the point they had to buy me 4 brand new rims. Live and learn.

 

You should just adjust them yourself and then take it in, at least you'll get closer to what you need.

 

I'm not even sure where to start honestly. I've lifted more Jeeps than I can count and got next to perfect alignments in my driveway with a tape measure. Never took one in and never had any issues. Solid axle is much different and IFS though.

 

Looks great ! i have an SR5 access cab and would love to do this ... did you add anything to rear besides the new Bilsteins ? ... or did you achieve this lift just using the Bilsteins in front/rear

 

Thanks man!! I actually did nothing to the rear! All I did was install the blsteins in the front!

 

Had Toyota install my lift. King/total chaos uca/Dakar and my check engine light and trac off light keep coming on after 100 miles or so. Took it back to toyota and they checked everything and said it's alright and cleared the light. Now it just came back on. Has anyone else delt with this?
